Two men were arrested on first-degree murder warrants after Tyler Weaver, a 25-year-old kart racer, was found dead at a Forest City, North Carolina, property on October 24, 2025, according to a November 7 report by Gabrielle Rockson for Yahoo News. The arrests are allegations, not findings of guilt. The report described the case as an active investigation at that time; it does not establish what happened in court afterward or the case’s status today.
What the November 2025 report said
Police responded to a home-invasion call at approximately 9:50 a.m. on October 24, 2025, in Forest City, North Carolina. The Yahoo News report said Weaver was found dead at the property. It attributed the information to a Forest City Police Department release and statements by Police Chief Chris LeRoy; the underlying release was not independently reviewed for this account.
According to the report, first responders searched wooded areas around the home but did not find the suspects. Chief LeRoy said Weaver died from multiple gunshot wounds. The report does not establish further details about the events inside the home.
Who was arrested, and what is alleged?
The report said Jaquavious Antwan Craig, 26, of Grover, and Quitez Lamare Watkins, 35, of Lawndale, were arrested on November 3, 2025, on first-degree murder warrants. These are the ages and residences reported in November 2025, not necessarily their current details.

Watkins was taken into custody by the Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force and held without bond, the article said. Craig surrendered at the Rutherford County Detention Center. The police release was quoted as saying Craig remained in custody without bond pending his first District Court appearance.
A warrant and an arrest are procedural steps based on allegations; neither establishes guilt. The report does not provide a court finding or a later case outcome.

What police said about the case
Chief LeRoy characterized the killing as a “robbery gone bad” and “targeted,” according to the November report. Those descriptions are attributed to the chief and should not be treated as a proven motive or a court finding.
The report also quoted the police release as saying the investigation was active and detectives were continuing to pursue leads at that time. That historical description does not confirm the investigation’s status now.

Weaver’s kart-racing career
The article reported that Weaver won two Maxxis National Championships in 2018. It also reproduced a tribute from Maxxis Kart Racing North America calling him a 2018 Maxxis National Champion. In the tribute, the organization expressed heartbreak at his death at age 25 and said his legacy would remain part of the Maxxis family. The statement was an organizational tribute reproduced by the news article, not a separate interview.

At the time of publication on November 7, 2025, the article said the next court appearance was scheduled for November 12, citing Fox Carolina. The accessible reporting does not verify whether that appearance took place, what followed, or the current status of the case. A current account would need confirmation from a court docket or a more recent police or court statement.
