Dexerto reported that the broadcast peaked at nearly 30,000 concurrent viewers; another outlet gave a higher figure, so 29,000 should be treated as an approximate, attributed estimate rather than a confirmed total.
What happened during Fandy’s birth livestream?
Hoffmann, known online as Fandy, announced that her water had broken in a post on X: “Hi Twitter my water just broke, so I think I’m going this live.” The reported Twitch stream was titled “Water Broke, Baby Time.” Coverage described a broadcast lasting about eight hours or eight and a half hours, ending with Fandy holding her daughter, Luna. Dexerto’s October 8 report covered the stream and its title.
How many people watched?
The often-repeated figure of 29,000 reflects a report of nearly 30,000 peak concurrent viewers—not a verified count of everyone who watched over the full broadcast. Dexerto described the peak as almost 30,000. Us Weekly reported that more than 50,000 people watched.
Those accounts may be measuring different things: concurrent viewers at one moment versus people who watched at some point. The reports do not provide enough detail to reconcile the figures, so the safest description is that tens of thousands tuned in, with the peak estimate attributed to Dexerto.

Why did she choose to share the birth?
Us Weekly reported that Fandy said she streamed the birth for the community she had been broadcasting to for ten years and thanked friends who supported her. The outlet also reported that she chose a home birth after disliking aspects of her previous hospital birth. Fandy reportedly said her midwife and nurse had each worked for more than 20 years; that is her reported account, not independent verification of their credentials or a medical assessment of the birth.
What did Twitch say, and was the stream ruled against its rules?
Contemporaneous reporting said Twitch CEO Dan Clancy appeared in the chat and wrote: “Fandy, best of luck and congratulations. Wishing you the best in this journey.” His message was a personal expression of support as reported by Dexerto; it does not establish a formal policy decision or platform endorsement.

Twitch’s Community Guidelines cover sexual content and adult nudity, among other subjects. Its guidance on following the rules says streamers are responsible for complying and that Twitch cannot pre-approve content or conduct. These general policies are relevant context for discussion of the broadcast, but the cited sources do not report a formal Twitch ruling on this particular stream.
