President Donald Trump pardoned Todd and Julie Chrisley on May 28, 2025, according to the U.S. Department of Justice’s clemency listing. The listing records grants for both that day; the published warrant available here is Todd Chrisley’s, and it describes his pardon as full and unconditional and orders his immediate release. The Associated Press reported that both were released later that day.

What were Todd and Julie Chrisley convicted of?

A federal jury convicted both Chrisleys on June 7, 2022, on all counts of a superseding indictment, including conspiracy to commit bank fraud, bank fraud, wire fraud and conspiracy to commit tax evasion. Julie Chrisley was also convicted of obstruction of justice, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia.

In its sentencing announcement, prosecutors said the couple conspired with a former business partner to obtain more than $36 million in personal loans from community banks using false bank statements, audit reports and personal financial statements. Prosecutors said the money was used for luxury cars, designer clothes, real estate and travel, and that new fraudulent loans were used to repay earlier ones. The same release said they did not file returns or pay taxes for tax years 2013 through 2016. These are the prosecution’s account of the case; the convictions were the jury’s verdict.

Prosecutors described the conduct as a decade-long scheme. U.S. Attorney Ryan K. Buchanan said, “Over the course of a decade, the defendants defrauded banks out of tens of millions of dollars while evading payment of their federal income taxes.” The Justice Department’s sentencing release was issued November 21, 2022.

What sentences did they receive?

U.S. District Judge Eleanor L. Ross sentenced Todd and Julie Chrisley on November 21, 2022. The Justice Department clemency listing records the sentences and restitution amounts as follows:

Person Sentence recorded by DOJ Restitution recorded by DOJ
Todd Chrisley 144 months in prison and three years of supervised release $17,270,741.57
Julie Chrisley 84 months in prison and three years of supervised release; sentence amended September 25, 2024 $4,740,645.04

The original sentences announced in 2022 were 12 years for Todd and seven years for Julie, each followed by three years of supervised release. The DOJ listing reflects Julie’s later amended sentence as 84 months. The DOJ clemency listing is the source for the recorded sentence and restitution figures.

When did Trump pardon the Chrisleys, and what did the warrant say?

The DOJ clemency listing records pardons for Todd and Julie Chrisley dated May 28, 2025. Todd’s published executive warrant, dated the same day, identifies the case as United States v. Chrisley, 1:19-cr-297. It calls his pardon “A FULL AND UNCONDITIONAL PARDON” and directs his immediate release. The warrant is Todd’s instrument; it should not be treated as Julie’s warrant.

The Associated Press reported on May 28 that the pardons paved the way for the couple’s release hours later. Todd was released in Pensacola, Florida, and Julie left a facility in Lexington, Kentucky. The warrant’s immediate-release direction and the reported releases concern their imprisonment; the cited records do not establish what legal effect the pardons had on each restitution obligation.

Chrisley Knows Best is the television series for which the couple are best known, according to the Associated Press. The AP report on the pardons and releases provides that context and the account of their release.
