At Super Bowl LIX on February 9, 2025, some spectators booed when Taylor Swift appeared on the stadium’s video screen. Donald Trump later shared a video of the moment and posted, “MAGA is very unforgiving.” The reported incident was a reaction to Swift on the jumbotron—not evidence that she was booed out of the stadium or that every fan shared the same view.
What happened when Taylor Swift appeared on the screen?
Swift attended the game in New Orleans to support Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. When the stadium broadcast showed her on the jumbotron, some spectators booed. The Associated Press described the crowd as pro-Eagles, while ABC News reported a wave of boos at that moment. Those accounts establish a crowd reaction, but not what any particular spectator intended or how widely the sentiment was shared.
The Eagles beat the Chiefs 40–22. That game context, and the AP’s description of the crowd, may help explain the setting; it does not establish why individual fans booed Swift.
What did Trump say about Swift?
Trump attended the game and shared two videos on Truth Social: one showing his reception with his daughter Ivanka, and another showing Swift being booed. He later wrote, as quoted by the AP: “The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!”

“Booed out of the Stadium” was Trump’s wording. The reporting describes boos when Swift appeared on the jumbotron; it does not say she left because of them or establish a stadium-wide rejection. The distinction matters: a brief, audible reaction is not proof of what every spectator thought.
Why was the moment read politically?
Swift endorsed Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election, a context Reuters noted in its account of the game. Trump’s reference to “MAGA” made his post explicitly political. But the available accounts do not show that politics caused the boos. The spectators’ individual reasons were not established.

How was Trump received at the game?
Reuters reported that Trump was greeted by a mix of cheers and boos as he entered the stadium. He was the first sitting U.S. president to attend a Super Bowl in person, according to Reuters. The mixed reception complicates the simple contrast suggested by the videos Trump chose to share: his own reception was not uniformly positive, and the clip of Swift captures a particular moment rather than a measure of everyone in the stadium.

- Reported: Some spectators booed when Swift appeared on the stadium screen.
- Trump’s claim: Swift was booed “out of the Stadium,” followed by his comment that “MAGA is very unforgiving.”
- Not established: That Swift was driven from the stadium, that all fans booed, or that the crowd’s motive was political.
The episode is best understood as a documented jumbotron reaction followed by Trump’s political framing of it—not as a verified statement of stadium-wide opinion.
