Fact-checkers compared the earrings visible in debate photos with the NOVA H1 audio earrings cited in viral posts and found that the designs did not match. The NOVA H1’s maker also said Harris’s earrings were not its product.
What the posts alleged
After the September 10 debate, social media posts claimed Harris had hidden earphones in her earrings and was receiving fed remarks or answers. One post declared, “BUSTED! SHE’S WEARING EARPHONE EARRINGS.” A pro-Trump account quoted by WIRED said it appeared she was being coached through earphones embedded in her earrings.
The posts pointed to the NOVA H1, a real earring-style audio product, as a visual match. That resemblance was the basis of the allegation; it was not evidence that Harris wore the device.
How the earrings compare
Fact-checkers examined the visible designs in debate photographs. PolitiFact described the NOVA H1 as having a pearl and a thick clasping stem. Harris’s earrings appeared to have two thinner lines beneath the pearl. Full Fact also found visible differences in close-up images.

PolitiFact rated the claim that Harris wore the NOVA H1 “Pants on Fire!” Full Fact concluded that the earrings did not match and found no evidence she wore earphone earrings. These were findings based on images and published information; they do not amount to a physical inspection of the jewelry or proof about every device someone might imagine.
What the maker and a fashion reference said
FactCheck.org reported that Icebach Sound Solutions, the NOVA H1 maker, examined debate photographs and said the earrings were not its product. In a statement quoted in FactCheck.org’s September 23, 2024 update, the company said: “After thoroughly analysing the photos of Kamala Harris during the Presidential Debate, we have come to the conclusion that these are not our NOVA H1 Audio Ear Rings.” That is the maker’s assessment of photographs, not a report of a physical examination.

FactCheck.org also reported a fashion reference identifying Harris’s earrings as South Sea pearl earrings from Tiffany HardWear and noted that she had worn the same earrings before the debate. PolitiFact quoted the fashion blog’s author, Susan E. Kelley, who wrote that they were the same Tiffany earrings Harris had worn for months. The identification is attributed to that fashion reference; it should not be treated as an independent product authentication.
How widely the claim spread—and what the numbers mean
WIRED reported that the claim appeared on X within minutes of the debate ending and was amplified by multiple pro-Trump accounts, including Laura Loomer. One post shared while the debate was still underway had received more than 5 million views, according to WIRED. FactCheck.org reported that an Instagram post dated September 10 received more than 39,000 likes.

That history shows the accusation has resurfaced around presidential debates; it does not establish how common it is, why it recurs, or whether the claims share a coordinated source.
