Donald Trump called Bruce Springsteen a “total loser” and urged MAGA supporters to boycott his concerts in a Truth Social post on April 2, 2026. The appeal followed Springsteen’s March 31 tour-opening remarks in Minneapolis criticizing the Trump administration and invoking democracy and constitutional values.
What Trump posted about Springsteen
Trump’s post appeared at 7:58 a.m. Eastern on April 2, according to the archived Truth Social post. He wrote that Springsteen was “a total loser who spews hate against a President who won a Landslide Election,” then said: “MAGA SHOULD BOYCOTT HIS OVERPRICED CONCERTS, WHICH SUCK. SAVE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY. AMERICA IS BACK!!!”

The election language and assessment of the concerts are Trump’s claims and opinions, not independently established facts. The post’s direct request was that MAGA supporters boycott Springsteen’s concerts.
Why the dispute began
Springsteen opened his Land of Hope and Dreams American Tour in Minneapolis on March 31. Coverage by the San Francisco Chronicle describes the show as framed around democracy and constitutional values; Forbes reports that Springsteen criticized Trump’s administration at the concert. Trump’s April 2 post followed those remarks.

What is established—and what is rhetoric
| Point | What the sources establish |
|---|---|
| Springsteen’s remarks | He criticized the administration at the March 31 Minneapolis concert and invoked democracy and constitutional values, as reported by the Chronicle and Forbes. |
| Trump’s response | His April 2 post insulted Springsteen and called for a boycott, as recorded in the archived post. |
| Concert prices | Forbes reported examples of some platinum tickets reaching up to $3,000 and cheapest tickets above $275 at some New Jersey and New York stops in early March. These are selected, location- and time-specific examples, not a tour-wide average or current price list. |
| Boycott impact | The reviewed coverage does not measure any resulting change in ticket sales or attendance. |
The price examples supply context for Trump’s use of “overpriced,” but they do not prove or disprove his characterization. Nor do they show that the boycott appeal affected demand.
How the musicians’ union responded
On April 2, Agencia EFE reported a response from Dan Point, president of the American Federation of Musicians’ Local 802, and Marc Sazer, president of Local 47. EFE’s English translation of their joint statement said: “We cannot remain silent as one of our most celebrated members is singled out and personally attacked by the President of the United States.” The EFE report is in Spanish; the quotation here is its English translation.
