A new Tremors movie with Kevin Bacon is being discussed, but it is not confirmed or greenlit. Stampede Entertainment said in an April 2025 update that it is considering a sequel set in Perfection and other concepts involving Graboids; Bacon’s possible return as Val is only one idea under consideration.
Is Kevin Bacon coming back to Tremors?
Not as a confirmed cast member. Stampede Entertainment said, “We are considering ideas that feature the return of Kevin Bacon as Val, but no promises!” That wording describes an option the company is considering, not a casting announcement or commitment.

The current discussion is about a possible legacy sequel, including a return to Perfection, as well as one or two more unusual ideas that would put Graboids in new settings. Stampede has not announced a production, release date, or greenlight. Stampede Entertainment’s April 2025 update is the source for the project’s current status.
What rights did Stampede get back?
Stampede says its partners reclaimed rights to the original Tremors screenplay, announced at Santa Fe Tremors Fest in October 2024. That does not mean Stampede owns the original film or controls the entire franchise. The company says it cannot license merchandise tied to the film, such as shirts bearing a Graboid or the movie’s title logo; it directs film licensing requests to Universal Studios.

Stampede also says it will not remake the first film with a new cast and is not soliciting or reading outside ideas. Its rights position should therefore be understood narrowly: the original script, not the film itself or all later franchise material.
How is this different from the earlier Tremors projects?
The old Tremors 5 script
The sequel currently being discussed is not a revival of Stampede’s older Tremors 5 script. Stampede says that script is unlikely to be filmed because it has rights to the original screenplay, not the scripts for later sequels. The company says the new concepts are separate from that older project. See its FAQ for its explanation.

The Kevin Bacon television pilot
Bacon’s possible involvement in the film discussion is also separate from the earlier TV project. Syfy did not pick up the Tremors pilot after it was made. On April 27, 2018, Bacon wrote that his “dream of revisiting the world of Perfection will not become a reality” because the network decided not to move forward; TVLine reported the news the following day. TVLine’s 2018 report documents the pilot’s outcome.
What can viewers watch or read now?
Universal Pictures At Home lists Tremors: The Complete Collection as a six-film digital set. It includes Tremors, Tremors 2: Aftershocks, Tremors 3: Back to Perfection, Tremors 4: The Legend Begins, Tremors 5: Bloodlines, and Tremors: A Cold Day in Hell. Universal describes a digital purchase as a limited license to access the content; its listing does not establish that a physical edition is available. Check Universal’s collection listing for its current details.

Stampede also says it made a deal with writer Christian Francis for a novelization based on its original script. The update gives no publication date and does not establish that the book is available to buy.

The meaningful next step would be a formal announcement that a project has moved beyond discussion, with details such as production status and confirmed casting. Until then, the accurate description is that Stampede is considering sequel concepts and has said Bacon could return—not that a Kevin Bacon Tremors sequel is in production.
