The celebrity presence fit the atmosphere of the Miami race, which regularly attracts guests from sports, entertainment, fashion and business. Formula 1’s coverage of the 2024 event also highlighted appearances by figures including Camila Cabello, will.i.am, Keke Palmer, Jerry Bruckheimer, Charlotte Tilbury, Yuvraj Singh, Darius Butler and Nyjah Huston.
Patrick Mahomes was also at the race
Kelce was not the only Kansas City Chiefs figure at the Miami Grand Prix. His teammate Patrick Mahomes attended with his wife, Brittany Mahomes, who was reported to be wearing a pink-and-white gingham minidress.
The appearance brought together two of the NFL’s most recognizable athletes at one of Formula 1’s major U.S. events. It also reflected the increasingly visible overlap between American sports celebrity culture and Formula 1’s expanding presence in the United States.
Why Kelce’s F1 connection mattered
Kelce and Mahomes had already established a business connection to Formula 1 before their Miami appearance. On October 17, 2023, Formula 1 reported that the pair had joined an investment group connected to Alpine F1 Team through Otro Capital.
The investment group was associated with a €200 million fund. Earlier investors named in the report included RedBird Capital Partners, Maximum Effort Investments and actor Ryan Reynolds. Kelce described the opportunity as a chance to contribute to a sport built around precision, teamwork and innovation.
That connection gave Kelce’s visit more significance than a routine celebrity sighting. He was not the owner of Alpine outright, the team principal or an official driver. The accurate description is that he was part of an investor group connected to Alpine.
What happened in the race?
Lando Norris won the 2024 Miami Grand Prix for McLaren, finishing ahead of Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc. It was Norris’s first Formula 1 Grand Prix victory.
The official 2024 Formula 1 schedule listed the Grand Prix for May 5, with the race beginning at 20:00 UTC. Kelce’s appearance therefore coincided with a particularly memorable Miami event: the race produced Norris’s maiden win and drew a large celebrity audience to the Hard Rock Stadium complex.
Was Taylor Swift with Travis Kelce?
The available reporting does not establish that Taylor Swift attended the Miami Grand Prix with Kelce. A preview had speculated about the possibility, but the final report on Kelce’s appearance did not say that Swift was present. Her attendance should not be stated as fact.
What is not known about the visit
- Kelce’s exact ticket type, seat or hospitality location was not reported.
- There is no confirmation that he attended every session of the race weekend.
- The available sources do not confirm an interaction with a driver or a visit to a team garage.
- There is no evidence that he drove a car or took part in an official Formula 1 activity.
- The brand or designer behind his green outfit was not identified.
Kelce’s May 5 appearance was therefore both a celebrity moment and a logical stop for an athlete who had already joined an investment group connected to Alpine. He watched the Miami race alongside Mahomes and other high-profile guests as Norris claimed his first Formula 1 Grand Prix win.
