Travis Kelce is the host—not a credited producer—of Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? Amazon announced the 20-episode game show as a spin-off of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?, produced by MGM Alternative, a division of Amazon MGM Studios. The series premiered on Prime Video on October 16, 2024.
What is Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity??
It is an adult quiz show built around elementary-school curriculum questions. Rather than answering alone, each contestant gets help from a classroom of celebrity classmates. Amazon described the series as a spin-off of the 2007 game show Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?.

The premise changes the role of the helpers: celebrities support the adult contestant instead of children serving as classmates. Amazon described the new version as a “loud twist” on the format. Its announcement named Nikki Glaser, Natasha Leggero, Nicole Byer, Ron Funches, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Chad Ochocinco, Garcelle Beauvais, Lala Kent, Sophia Stallone and Lilly Singh among the celebrity participants.
How does the game work?
Amazon’s announced format has contestants answer 11 questions drawn from elementary-school curricula. The final question is at sixth-grade level and carries the top prize of $100,000. Before answering it, the contestant chooses one celebrity to discuss the question with.

The setup puts the adult contestant’s judgment alongside the celebrities’ help: the contestant still has to commit to the answer, after consulting a classmate. The available announcement describes this core structure, rather than a complete rulebook for every round or contingency.
What was Travis Kelce’s role?
Kelce hosts the show. In Amazon’s April 17, 2024 announcement, he said he grew up loving game shows and was excited to host his first one. The announcement does not identify him as a producer, so his on-screen hosting role should not be confused with the series’ production credits.

- Wes Kauble: showrunner and executive producer.
- Mark Burnett: executive producer.
- Sean Kelly and Steve Hughes: co-executive producers.
When was it made and released?
Amazon announced the series on April 17, 2024, with an October 16, 2024 premiere date. The Associated Press reported on April 16, 2024 that filming for the 20-episode season had already finished. Prime Video identifies the season as a 2024 release.

Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? carries forward the school-question premise while changing the contestant and classroom dynamic. The new show’s contestant is an adult, the helpers are celebrities, and its announced final question is sixth-grade level. Amazon’s announcement does not provide enough detail to make a full rules-by-rules comparison with every version of the predecessor.

Amazon’s 2024 announcement also cited the predecessor’s scale: Barry Poznick, MGM Alternative general manager and co-creator of the original series, said the franchise had produced more than 3,000 episodes globally. The announcement attributed two historical audience figures to the original U.S. version: 27 million viewers for its premiere and more than 800 million viewers cumulatively during its run. Amazon did not provide the underlying measurement methodology in the announcement, so these are best understood as figures reported by the company, not independently verified measurements.
