Takara Tomy announced two Transformers crossover figures in 2024: Megatron TYPE GODZILLA and Optimus Prime TYPE MECHAGODZILLA, inspired by Godzilla and Type-3 Kiryu, respectively. They were planned for Japan release in 2025, so the reveal is not new; current stock and resale prices are not established by the available official information.
What the Transformers–Godzilla crossover includes
The figures are Transformers characters taking on crossover forms, rather than standalone Godzilla or Kiryu figures. Takara Tomy presented them as part of SYNERGENEX, a T-SPARK series for collaborations between Takara Tomy properties and other companies’ properties. The announcement tied the products to Godzilla’s 70th anniversary and Transformers’ 40th anniversary in 2024. TOMY Company’s August 26, 2024 announcement lists the series’ recommended age as 15 and up.
Megatron TYPE GODZILLA
In the product fiction, Megatron scans Godzilla and takes on Godzilla-like powers. The figure’s described details include Godzilla-inspired body markings, clear dorsal-fin parts, and painted accents evoking the fins when Godzilla uses its heat ray. A clear effect part is included to depict the heat ray. Takara Tomy’s Japanese product archive lists a suggested retail price of ¥9,350 including tax, recommends the figure for ages 15 and up, and gives a planned release of late May 2025. Those are the archive’s product details and planned timing, not evidence of current stock or today’s market price.
Optimus Prime TYPE MECHAGODZILLA
The Optimus figure draws on Type-3 Kiryu, also known as Mechagodzilla. The official English announcement describes a silver-colored Optimus, maser-colored weapons, and a Kiryu-inspired trailer that converts into a play base. The official SYNERGENEX character page uses the Japanese name TYPE ３式機龍 and provides additional fictional character lore. That story material should not be read as confirmation of additional final toy engineering; the page notes that development imagery may differ from final specifications, shape, and coloring.
