Tracker explained its Season 3 cast change through two distinct story developments: Velma Bruin went to be with her wife, Teddi, while Bobby Exley took a new job. Bobby’s cousin Randy, played by Chris Lee, stepped into the tech-support role and helped Reenie’s Denver office. Those are the characters’ on-screen explanations; they do not establish why Abby McEnany or Eric Graise left the regular cast.
Who left Tracker’s regular cast before Season 3?
Abby McEnany and Eric Graise were no longer series regulars as Velma Bruin and Bobby Exley, respectively, ahead of Season 3. The show did not remove both characters in the same way: Velma’s storyline focused on her marriage, while Bobby’s focused on work. Paramount+’s cast guide describes both as having left the regular cast, rather than establishing that they could never appear again. Paramount+’s cast guide
Velma went to be with Teddi
Velma, Colter’s handler in the first two seasons, went to be with her wife, Teddi, played by Robin Weigert. Showrunner Elwood Reid told TV Insider that the show had already set up problems in their relationship. Teddi had left the series after Season 1; Paramount+ says her character left to care for her mother. Reid’s explanation for Velma’s Season 3 absence gave the characters a reason to reunite without suggesting that the marriage had been trouble-free. TV Insider’s interview with Elwood Reid
Bobby accepted another job
Bobby, Colter’s hacker and tech expert, took what Reid called “an interesting job offer.” The showrunner said viewers would hear about it in the Season 3 premiere. Paramount+ describes Bobby as taking a leave of absence, a useful distinction: the story accounts for his absence without presenting it as a definitive end to the character’s future on the show.

Who replaced Bobby as Colter’s tech expert?
Chris Lee’s Randy, Bobby’s cousin, filled the tech-support gap. Reid said bringing Randy to Denver also served the creative goal of expanding Reenie’s office. Paramount+ identifies Randy as Colter’s tech expert during Bobby’s absence. The change therefore does more than explain why Bobby is not around: it gives Colter a new connection to the office-based side of his work while allowing Reenie’s team to grow.
Could Velma or Bobby return?
In a September 2025 interview, Reid said a return was possible, but neither character was planned for the first block of Season 3 episodes at that time. That was a description of the then-current plan, not a promise of a later appearance. Paramount+’s cast guide, updated September 30, 2026, continues to describe Velma and Bobby as having left the regular cast; it does not by itself settle whether either character appears in any particular episode.

What the explanations do—and don’t—tell us
The job offer and the reunion with Teddi are fictional explanations for the characters’ absences. The public statements cited here do not establish the performers’ private reasons for leaving, contract terms, or the production’s behind-the-scenes rationale. It is more accurate to say McEnany and Graise stopped being series regulars than to infer a personal or business explanation from their characters’ plotlines.
