Yes: Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story 5 trailer promotes the return of Tom Hanks as Woody and Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear. The “after 7 years” phrasing is a rounded interval from Toy Story 4 in 2019 to the 2026 trailer period—not a verified exact anniversary. The film opened in U.S. theaters on June 19, 2026, and Disney announced its Disney+ streaming start for September 23, 2026.
What the trailer’s reunion means
Disney/Pixar’s official trailer listing identifies Hanks as Woody and Allen as Buzz Lightyear, and describes the trailer as teasing their anticipated reunion. The seven-year framing refers to the gap between Toy Story 4 (2019) and the 2026 trailer period. The listing does not establish an exact trailer publication date, so the interval should be read as approximate.
What Toy Story 5 is about
Disney/Pixar sums up the premise as “Toy meets Tech.” In the official synopsis, a new tablet device called Lilypad arrives with its own ideas about what is best for Bonnie, challenging the toys’ place in her life. The studio describes a conflict between toys and technology; it does not officially label Lilypad a villain.
Cast and creative team
The announced voice cast includes Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear, Joan Cusack as Jessie, and Greta Lee as Lilypad. Andrew Stanton directs, Kenna Harris co-directs, Lindsey Collins produces, and Randy Newman composes the music, according to the official press kit.
