The New York Times Connections puzzle for Tuesday, May 14, 2024, is puzzle #338. Below you’ll find the 16-word grid, progressively stronger hints, and—after a spoiler warning—the four completed groups.
How Connections works
Connections gives you 16 words and asks you to sort them into four groups of four, with each group sharing a connection. The grid can be shuffled, and you lose after four incorrect guesses. Because a word may appear to fit more than one category, use the hints before opening the answers.

Look for ways to refer to yourself or other people in Spanish.
Purple-group hint

Why the last group works
The purple group forms four familiar expressions: slim fit, Slim Jim, slim pickings, and Slim Shady. That wording is deliberately looser than the other categories, which is why it can be easy to overlook until the remaining words are narrowed down.
