In June 2023, TMZ reported that competitors had been injured during an athletic challenge filmed at MrBeast’s North Carolina property. A MrBeast representative told TMZ that there were “three minor medical issues out of almost 200 participants” and that medical personnel attended to those affected. That count and description are the representative’s account, not independently verified medical findings.
What happened at the challenge?
TMZ reportedly described a running event with hurdles and other obstacles as part of an upcoming MrBeast video. The available accounts do not spell out the course, its rules, or exactly what happened to individual participants. PerthNow’s June 16, 2023 report and a same-day Dexerto summary both relay TMZ’s coverage; neither provides firsthand contestant accounts.
How many people were reported to have medical issues?
A MrBeast representative, quoted by PerthNow and Dexerto as speaking to TMZ, said: “MrBeast was working on an upcoming video with athletic challenges, and there were three minor medical issues out of almost 200 participants. Medical personnel attended to the people immediately and released them shortly after.” The representative is not named in the reports.
The figure is an attributed production statement. The articles do not identify the participants or include independent medical records confirming the number or severity of the cases.

Were the reported injuries serious?
The representative characterized the issues as “minor” and said the participants were released shortly after being attended to by medical personnel. The reports do not give diagnoses, describe treatment, or independently establish the severity of any injury. They therefore do not support a more specific account of what happened medically.
What is—and is not—confirmed by the coverage?
- Reported: TMZ’s account, relayed by PerthNow and Dexerto, described an athletic challenge with running, hurdles, and obstacles at MrBeast’s North Carolina property.
- Attributed to a representative: Three minor medical issues among almost 200 participants, with medical personnel attending and releasing those affected shortly afterward.
- Not established in these reports: The participants’ identities, diagnoses, independent medical confirmation, or whether the video was ultimately released or followed by a later safety update.
Because both June 16, 2023 articles summarize the same TMZ reporting, they are not independent confirmation of the incident details. The representative’s statement is the only specific count and description of severity supplied in those accounts.
