His early credits included co-producing Honey I Shrunk the Kids and Dick Tracy. At 29, he became executive vice-president of feature movies at 20th Century Fox. Films associated with his tenure there included Home Alone and its sequel, Mrs. Doubtfire and True Lies. The latter began his close working relationship with Cameron. Landau later became a senior executive at Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment. The Associated Press account published by The Washington Post and The Guardian’s report describe his career and collaborations.
What movies did Jon Landau produce?
Landau’s best-known work came from his partnership with Cameron on Titanic (1997), Avatar (2009) and Avatar: The Way of Water (2022). Cameron directed these films; Landau was a producer and executive collaborator, not their director.
#1 Best Overall
Titanic won 11 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, according to the Associated Press in 2024. The AP also reported that it became the first film to cross $1 billion in global box-office earnings. Those are milestones reported retrospectively in 2024, not events from that year. The Guardian reported that both Avatar and Avatar: The Way of Water later surpassed Titanic’s global box-office mark.
