Sombr, KATSEYE and Laufey were among five nominees for Breakthrough Artist of the Year at TikTok’s first U.S. TikTok Awards. The 2025 ceremony and voting period have passed; TikTok had scheduled the show for December 18 in Los Angeles.
Who was nominated for Breakthrough Artist of the Year?
TikTok’s November 3, 2025 announcement listed five nominees in the exact category “Breakthrough Artist of the Year”:

- KATSEYE (@katseyeworld)
- Laufey (@laufey)
- Ravyn Lenae (@ravynlenae)
- Sombr (@sombr)
The handles above preserve TikTok’s lowercase styling. The announcement names the contenders but does not explain why any individual artist was selected or rank the nominees.
What were the TikTok Awards?
TikTok described the 2025 ceremony as its first-ever awards show in the United States. The announcement presented the event under the tagline “New Era. New Icons.” TikTok also described its community as “170 million Americans”; that is TikTok’s figure from its November 3, 2025 announcement, which did not provide methodology or an underlying study.

The Breakthrough Artist category was one part of a broader awards program. TikTok said voting covered fourteen categories overall. The announcement also named Creator of the Year, Video of the Year, Rising Star of the Year and Storyteller of the Year, among others—not a complete list of all fourteen. Examples of nominees included Adam W, Alix Earle, Brooke Monk, Keith Lee and Kristy Sarah for Creator of the Year, and Bretman Rock, Chris and Finck, Ron Clark, Taylor Timinskas and Turkuaz Kitchen for Video of the Year.
When and where was the ceremony scheduled?
TikTok announced the U.S. awards on November 3, 2025, and scheduled the ceremony for Thursday, December 18, at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles. Its announcement set out this program:

These were plans in TikTok’s 2025 announcement, not confirmation of what ultimately took place or proof that the program remains available in Tubi’s current catalog.
Could viewers vote, and is voting still open?
TikTok scheduled voting through its in-app Awards hub from November 18 through December 2, 2025. Both dates have passed, so that voting window is closed. The announcement does not establish the winners.
