Spoilers for Thunderbolts* (2025): Valentina Allegra de Fontaine is behind the experiment that creates Bob’s Sentry identity and the Void, and she attempts to rebrand the team as the New Avengers. The film’s ending then places the New Avengers in the former Avengers Tower. That outcome broadly answers the mystery raised by a 2024 plot leak—but it does not prove every detail in that leak was accurate.
Who bought Avengers Tower in Thunderbolts*?
The released film connects Valentina Allegra de Fontaine to the former Avengers Tower and ends with the newly named New Avengers occupying it. TIME’s May 2, 2025 account says that, fourteen months after the film’s main events, the team is camped in the old tower. The film’s answer to the mystery is therefore Valentina and her New Avengers—not a newly revealed buyer who remains separate from the team.
Disney’s post-release account explains the connection: Valentina recruited Bob, whose illicit super-soldier experiment gives him the Sentry identity; his dark side manifests as the Void. After the team’s confrontation with that threat, she tries to rebrand the Thunderbolts as the New Avengers. The Avengers Tower reveal is part of that ending and its new status quo.
What the 2024 plot leak claimed—and what it did not establish
Chris Smith’s BGR article, “Thunderbolts Leak Solves A Long-Standing Avengers Mystery,” was published August 17, 2024. It presented an early plot leak from Reddit as a possible answer to the question of who bought Stark’s Avengers Tower. The reported material included Valentina acquiring the tower, Bob’s experiment, and the Sentry/Void connection.

BGR explicitly said the details could not be confirmed at the time. They should be treated as reported leak claims, not verified production facts. The released film later supports the broad outline involving Valentina, Bob, the Void, the New Avengers, and the old tower. That correspondence does not authenticate every detail in the Reddit leak or show that the leak was the source of the film’s final version.
What the released film establishes
Disney lists Thunderbolts* as a Marvel Studios film released May 2, 2025, with a runtime of 2 hours 6 minutes and a PG-13 rating. Its synopsis follows Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, Red Guardian, Ghost, Taskmaster, and John Walker after they are caught in a death trap set by Valentina.

In a May 8, 2025 interview, Disney identifies Bob as Robert Reynolds, who volunteered for Valentina’s secret super-soldier experiment. The experiment gives him Sentry’s powers, while his dark side takes the form of the Void; Disney also describes the Thunderbolts becoming the New Avengers. These are post-release explanations of the film, not independent confirmation of what the 2024 leak contained.
TIME’s ending recap adds that the Void traps people in their worst memories and that Yelena helps Bob escape its grasp. It also describes Valentina’s New Avengers rebrand and the team’s later presence in the former Avengers Tower. Read together, the studio’s character explanation and TIME’s account make clear how the tower fits into the story’s ending.

Why the leak’s wording needs a little care
The original headline framed the leak as solving a long-running Avengers mystery. The question was the identity of the buyer of Stark’s former tower. With the film now released, it is fair to say the movie’s story broadly resolves that question through Valentina’s role and the New Avengers’ occupation of the building. It is more precise to say the leak appeared to point toward a reveal later established in the film than to say the leak was wholly confirmed.
Valentina’s description of Bob as “stronger than all of the Avengers rolled into one,” reproduced in Disney’s coverage, is her line in the story—not an independently measured comparison. Lewis Pullman, who plays Bob/Sentry, joked in the same Disney interview: “Going forward, should I say that I played Sentry in Thunderbolts* — or in The*New Avengers?” The line nods to the rebrand, but does not announce a separate film title.
