Pedro Capó is a Puerto Rican singer-songwriter and actor whose international breakthrough came with “Calma,” but his career spans songwriting for other artists, a varied album catalog, and an ongoing search for his own voice. His releases include Aquila, En Letra de Otro, MUNAY, La Neta and the 2025 album La Carretera.
Who is Pedro Capó?
Capó is a Puerto Rican singer-songwriter and actor. His official biography identifies him as the grandson of Bobby Capó, the Puerto Rican singer and composer. The same biography highlights Capó’s work as a songwriter for Ricky Martin, including “La Mordidita” and “Disparo al Corazón.”
How did “Calma” change his career?
“Calma” became Capó’s defining international hit, particularly after a remix featuring Farruko. Capó’s biography dates the remix’s breakthrough to 2018. The success brought him a much wider audience, while also raising a creative question he later described: whether to try to reproduce the hit or return to making music in a way that felt honest and enjoyable.
In a GRAMMY.com interview published January 26, 2024, Capó said, “I make music because I love it. It’s who I am. It motivates me to keep doing what I’m doing.” Reflecting on what followed “Calma,” he described choosing rediscovery over chasing the same success: “to have fun, be honest, and express myself in a pure way.”

How does his album catalog develop?
Sony Music’s discography traces a path from early solo work to records released after his international breakthrough. These albums mark different stages rather than a single attempt to repeat “Calma.”
| Album | Year | Place in his career |
|---|---|---|
| Pedro Capó | 2009 | Early solo release |
| Aquila | 2014 | Pre-breakthrough album |
| En Letra de Otro | 2017 | Album preceding the international breakthrough |
| MUNAY | 2020 | Post-“Calma” release |
| La Neta | 2022 | A more introspective, hands-on project |
| La Carretera | 2025 | His latest album listed in the sources as of October 8, 2026 |
Why La Neta matters
La Neta offers a window into Capó’s creative response to sudden international success. In the GRAMMY.com interview, he discussed writing and co-producing, working in his home studio, and drawing on influences from both New York and Puerto Rico. The album received a nomination for Best Latin Pop Album at the 2024 GRAMMY Awards.

La Carretera in 2025
Released January 31, 2025, La Carretera is a 14-track album with a listed runtime of 42 minutes, according to its Apple Music listing. Sony Music Portugal announced it as a digital release on February 3, 2025, and quoted Capó calling it “the most honest and comfortable record” he had made. In context, the album extends his emphasis on personal expression rather than serving simply as a follow-up to one hit.
