Park. He is not Jesús Huerta Escoboza, the separate wrestler who later portrayed La Parka for AAA. That distinction matters: the serious 2019 injury and 2020 death reported in news coverage belong to Huerta, not Tapia.
Who was the WCW La Parka?
The original La Parka was Mexican wrestler Adolfo Tapia. He became familiar to U.S. audiences through WCW in the late 1990s and later continued wrestling under the name L.A. Park, as the Los Angeles Times and Wrestling Observer/F4W explain.

That is why searches for “La Parka WCW” may lead to material about L.A. Park: the names refer to the same wrestler, Tapia, at different points in his career.
Why fans remember his WCW presentation
Tapia stood out through a skeleton-like costume, animated character work, and frequent use of a steel chair. FOX Sports’ WWE biography connects the chair to his nickname, “The Chairman of WCW.” It was a wrestling-character nickname, not a backstage executive role.

The same biography places his WCW debut in 1996, after an AAA appearance at the 1994 When Worlds Collide event. These details sketch the character’s profile; they are not a complete match chronology.
La Parka vs. L.A. Park: two wrestlers, not two names for one career
Tapia was the original La Parka associated with WCW. Jesús Huerta Escoboza was a different wrestler who later performed as La Parka in AAA. The Los Angeles Times calls Huerta the second man to wear the mask, while Wrestling Observer/F4W distinguishes him from Tapia.

| Performer | Promotion and period | Name associated with the role | Career events to keep distinct |
|---|---|---|---|
| Adolfo Tapia | WCW in the late 1990s; later continued wrestling | The original La Parka; later L.A. Park | The skeleton presentation, chair use, and “The Chairman of WCW” nickname belong to Tapia’s WCW character. |
| Jesús Huerta Escoboza | AAA; joined in 1995 and was renamed in 1996, according to Wrestling Observer/F4W | Karis La Momia, then La Parka Jr., and later La Parka | His 2019 in-ring accident and death in January 2020 are not events in Tapia’s life. |
Wrestling Observer/F4W reports that Huerta joined AAA as Karis La Momia in 1995 and was renamed La Parka Jr. in 1996. This helps explain how AAA’s later La Parka became familiar while Tapia was working in the United States. Sources sometimes include “Alfonso” in Huerta’s full name; Jesús Huerta Escoboza refers to the same later performer.

Jesús Huerta Escoboza was seriously injured during a 2019 match in Monterrey after diving to the outside. The Los Angeles Times reported that he struck his head on the guard rail and floor, underwent surgery, and was paralyzed. He died in January 2020. Those reports concern AAA’s later La Parka—not Adolfo Tapia, the WCW wrestler.
