Reports describe two procedures that increased her height by 14 cm, from 1.70 m to 1.84 m, and put their combined cost at roughly €146,000–€150,000. The reviewed reporting does not substantiate the headline figure of more than $200,000.
What Fischer has said about the procedures
FOCUS reported that Fischer underwent thigh (femur) lengthening in 2016, followed by lower-leg (tibia) lengthening in 2022. Its account of a BUNTE interview said the procedures added 14 cm to her height, taking her from 1.70 m to 1.84 m. These are figures reported by the outlet, not independently verified medical records. In that interview, Fischer was quoted saying: “Natürlich, das war definitiv ein Fehler. Das kann man verurteilen, ich tue das auch” (“Of course, it was definitely a mistake. You can condemn it; I do too”). The statement is her retrospective judgment, rather than a medical assessment of whether the procedures were clinically indicated.
The pain and complications she described
FOCUS’s account said Fischer described severe pain, opioid use, two bone infections, cramps and lingering effects during recovery. She was quoted: “Das waren höllische Schmerzen. Ich habe Opiate genommen und das nicht in geringen Mengen” (“It was hellish pain. I took opioids, and not in small amounts”). These symptoms are based on her account as reported by the outlet, not an independently reviewed medical file.

In April 2024, n-tv reported further complications, including bone infection or inflammation, incomplete healing of the fibula and repeated procedures on her left leg. In January 2025, Blick reported Fischer describing eight years of pain and saying depression can be invisible. Those accounts show how she characterized her experience at different times; they do not establish her current medical condition. n-tv · Blick

The itemization in OK! attributed €112,000 to operations, €14,000 to two nail removals, €12,500 to physiotherapy, €4,500 to osteopathy and €3,000 to medication. Because those reported line items do not sum precisely to the stated figure, they should be treated as secondary reporting, not a verified ledger. What limb-lengthening surgery involves
Traditional limb lengthening involves cutting a bone and gradually separating the bone ends over months so new bone can form in the gap. Treatment can require further surgery to remove implanted devices. MedlinePlus lists infection, poor bone healing, nerve damage and blood-vessel injury among possible risks. Published complication figures need careful context. A 2025 single-center study examined nine patients with 22 bones who had been referred for complications after cosmetic intramedullary lengthening. It reported hardware failure in 23% of index surgeries and malunion or nonunion in 45%. Because the study included patients referred for complications, those percentages are not estimates of the risk for everyone who undergoes the procedure. A June 2026 Royal College of Surgeons of England release summarized a separate study of patients treated by a specialist limb-reconstruction service after cosmetic surgery abroad. In that selected group, patients had a median of 10 hospital contacts each, all required physiotherapy, and the reviewed cases represented a net NHS burden of more than £36,000. Why the distinction matters
Fischer’s public comments are a personal account of regret and difficult recovery. The surgical references explain that lengthening can involve a long treatment course and serious complications, but neither her story nor selected referral studies can tell another person what their individual risk would be. Anyone considering the operation needs advice from qualified clinicians who can assess their circumstances and explain the potential benefits, alternatives and risks.
