What is There Are No Ghosts at the Grand?
In Friday Sundae’s debut game, you play Chris David, an American who unexpectedly inherits the dilapidated Grand Hotel on the English coast. The premise blends hotel renovation, mystery-solving and ghost encounters, with the story unfolding over a framework the Steam listing describes as 30 days and 30 nights.
Xbox characterizes the game as part renovation game, part ghost story and part musical. Its tone also draws on talking power tools, a sardonic cat, unusual townspeople and a narrator whose account may not be entirely trustworthy. The studio is based in Bristol, England.

The daytime loop centers on repairing and renovating the inherited hotel. By night: investigate the supernatural
At night, the focus shifts to supernatural threats and investigation. The contrast between practical restoration and ghostly encounters is the game’s core rhythm, with the hotel’s mystery linking the two halves.
Music is part of play
Musical sequences are integrated into the story and involve player actions and choices, rather than functioning only as cutscenes. Xbox says the songs can be skipped. As Creative Director and Friday Sundae co-founder Anil Glendinning puts it: “You’ll renovate. You’ll investigate. You’ll duet.”
When does There Are No Ghosts at the Grand come out?
As of October 8, 2026, the available listings point to a late-2026 launch, but do not establish an exact release day. Steam lists the full game for Q4 2026, while gamescom describes the window as the end of 2026. Check the relevant store listing for an updated date before planning a purchase.
Friday Sundae cautions that the game is a work in progress and that features may change, so the current release window and feature descriptions should be treated as provisional.
