Here’s where 12 performers from the four theatrical films—American Pie (1999), American Pie 2 (2001), American Wedding (2003), and American Reunion (2012)—fit into that story. The separate American Pie Presents spin-offs are outside this look.
Where are the American Pie actors now?
The cast’s later work spans sitcoms, dramas, studio comedies, independent films, and award-winning television. These selected credits offer a snapshot of how their careers developed; they are not a complete filmography or a claim that every performer followed the same trajectory.

Jason Biggs as Jim Levenstein
Biggs played Jim, whose painfully awkward adolescence supplied much of the original film’s comedy. American Pie was his first feature-film lead, and the role made him a recognizable face in teen comedy. He later took on a very different tone as Larry Bloom in Orange Is the New Black, appeared in the sitcom Outmatched, and hosted Jason Biggs’ Cash at Your Door. The shift from a breakout film character to television acting and hosting reflects a career that has moved across formats.
Seann William Scott as Steve Stifler
Scott’s Stifler was the loud, swaggering foil to Jim’s earnest awkwardness. Rather than stay in the American Pie orbit, Scott carried his comic energy into films including Road Trip, Old School, and Role Models, while also taking on the television series Lethal Weapon. His later work includes Welcome to Flatch, another example of a career that has ranged from broad film comedy to television ensembles.
#1 Best Overall
Chris Klein as Chris “Oz” Ostreicher
Klein played Oz, the lacrosse player whose romantic storyline gave the ensemble a more sincere counterpoint to its raunchier jokes. His film work includes the high-school satire Election and the romantic comedy Just Friends. Later television credits include The Flash and Sweet Magnolias, taking him from teen and studio comedies into genre and relationship-driven series.
Alyson Hannigan as Michelle Flaherty
Hannigan’s Michelle is remembered for a deceptively mild introduction and the blunt, comic confidence that followed it. The part came after another defining young role: Willow Rosenberg on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Hannigan later became widely associated with Lily Aldrin on the long-running sitcom How I Met Your Mother. Michelle sits between two major television milestones, rather than defining Hannigan’s career on her own.
Tara Reid as Vicky Lathum
Reid played Vicky, Kevin’s girlfriend, in the original film and its sequel. Her screen credits also include the dramas and comedies Cruel Intentions and Josie and the Pussycats, a guest appearance on Scrubs, and the Sharknado films. Those projects show a career moving among teen drama, music-centered comedy, television, and knowingly over-the-top genre entertainment.
Shannon Elizabeth as Nadia
Elizabeth’s Nadia arrives as an exchange student who becomes the focus of Jim’s anxious romantic schemes. After American Pie, she appeared in comedy projects including Scary Movie and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, as well as the ensemble romance Love Actually. Those credits put her in several different kinds of comedy and popular film ensemble.
Natasha Lyonne as Jessica
Lyonne played Jessica, one of the friends who offers practical advice amid the group’s romantic confusion. Her career has since encompassed a wide range of screen roles, including Nicky Nichols in Orange Is the New Black, the lead in Russian Doll, and a starring role in Poker Face. The progression from supporting teen-comedy character to leading roles in distinctive television series is one of the clearest career transformations among the original cast.
Mena Suvari as Heather
Suvari’s Heather is Oz’s love interest, and her restrained, thoughtful presence helps make their relationship one of the film’s gentler storylines. She was also part of the cast of American Beauty, released the same year as American Pie. That pairing illustrates how the film arrived during a period when Suvari was appearing in very different kinds of prominent projects.

Thomas Ian Nicholas as Kevin Myers
Nicholas played Kevin, the friend trying to keep his relationship with Vicky intact while the group makes its pact. He had already been a familiar young performer through the baseball comedy Rookie of the Year and television’s Party of Five. American Pie added a major ensemble comedy to a career that began well before the film.
Jennifer Coolidge as Jeanine, “Stifler’s mom”
Coolidge made Jeanine—known to the teenagers as Stifler’s mom—a vivid comic presence in the first film and returned to the role in later entries. Years afterward, she reached a new television audience as Tanya McQuoid in The White Lotus. The role earned her an Emmy, a Golden Globe, and a Screen Actors Guild Award, adding major awards recognition to a career long marked by distinctive supporting performances.

Eugene Levy as Jim’s father
Levy played Jim’s well-meaning, often mortified father, whose attempts at guidance became a recurring source of comedy across the theatrical films. His career stretches far beyond the franchise: Levy was an established comedy performer before American Pie, and later co-created and starred in Schitt’s Creek with his son Daniel Levy. The series brought his work to a new generation of viewers while retaining the humane comic sensibility familiar from his earlier roles.
Eddie Kaye Thomas as Paul Finch
Thomas played Finch, the polished, self-assured friend whose rivalry with Stifler became a running joke. His role is a recognizable part of the original ensemble, but the available career record here does not establish a particular current project to point to. Finch remains the clearest anchor for his place in the film series without overstating what can be said about his present work.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What changed for the cast after the original films?
The films brought the 12 performers together, but they did not send them along a single career path. Hannigan, Lyonne, and Coolidge became associated with major later television roles; Scott moved between film comedy and television; Levy paired an extensive earlier career with a later hit series; and other cast members continued working across film and television in varied roles. The franchise is one shared chapter, not a measure of what each actor went on to do.
