Some secondary listings give December 23 as the date. The family memorial and multiple obituary reports use December 22, which is the date reflected here.
His role on The Young and the Restless
Deuel played Dave Campbell on The Young and the Restless. Obituary coverage places his run from 1973 to 1977; that reported range does not mean he appeared in every episode throughout those years. The Television Academy biography also includes the soap among his credits.

Why Chisum remains a signature credit
Deuel played Billy the Kid in Chisum, the 1970 Western starring John Wayne. His family memorial identifies the role as the work for which he was best known, and obituary coverage also highlights the film. It is a notable screen credit alongside his television career.
A career across film and television
Deuel appeared in a range of television series, including The Monkees, Bonanza, The Flying Nun, The F.B.I., Mission: Impossible, The Streets of San Francisco and Mannix. From acting to teaching in Florida
According to his family memorial, Deuel was born in Lockport, New York, on January 17, 1943, and grew up in Penfield. The family account says he attended Ithaca College and Syracuse University, served in the Army and moved to California in 1965.
After acting, he earned a bachelor’s degree in international studies and a master’s degree in education from the University of South Florida. The memorial says he later taught history in St. Petersburg, Florida. Deuel was the younger brother of actor Peter “Pete” Deuel.
