The “world’s biggest Nerf gun” in the headline is a custom-built, roughly 12.5-foot replica of the Nerf Icon Longshot CS-6 made by Michael Pick—not a blaster you can buy at a store. Gizmodo’s 2021 headline says it can fire darts at over 50 mph, but its article body does not describe a speed measurement or test method, so that figure should be treated as a reported claim rather than a verified specification.
What is the world’s biggest Nerf gun?
Michael Pick built an oversized replica modeled on the Nerf Icon Longshot CS-6. Gizmodo reported in October 2021 that the one-off build is about 12.5 feet long and weighs more than 200 pounds. It is made mainly from plywood, with 3D-printed parts for details. Gizmodo’s report describes the construction and performance claims.
Guinness World Records lists Pick as the record holder for the largest Nerf blaster, measuring 3.81 metres (12 ft 6 in). The Guinness page gives conflicting dates: its “When” field says September 15, 2021, while its description says October 15, 2021. The Guinness record listing also cautions that records can change before the site is updated.
How fast and far can it shoot?
Gizmodo’s headline says the blaster can send darts at over 50 mph, but the article body does not give a velocity measurement, test conditions, or a method for measuring speed. That means the speed claim cannot be treated as a documented test result based on the report alone.

The same report describes other performance claims: at 40 PSI, a dart could travel as far as 250 feet in open air; at the maximum 80 PSI, the darts could penetrate drywall and shatter a cinder block. These are reported demonstrations, not manufacturer specifications or a safety endorsement.
How does the custom blaster work?
According to Gizmodo, the build uses a 3,000 PSI paintball tank to pressurize a secondary tank. Pick’s custom darts are described as being made from PVC pipe, foam, and 3D-printed plastic tips. The reported pressure and projectile construction help explain why this is not comparable to an ordinary, commercially made toy blaster.

Can you buy the world’s biggest Nerf gun?
No retail version of Pick’s giant build is identified in the reporting; it is a custom one-off, not a product sold by Nerf. It replicates the Longshot CS-6, but buying a commercially made Longshot would not give you the giant build or its reported power. A 2024 buyer’s guide names the Nerf Mega Mastodon as another large retail blaster, but that guide does not establish current stock or independently verify its specifications. The Daily Dabble’s 2024 guide offers that limited retail context.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How does it compare with Mark Rober’s earlier giant blaster?
Mark Rober’s 2016 giant blaster was previously reported to fire at about 40 mph and travel more than 130 yards. Gizmodo’s 2021 report says Pick’s build surpassed Rober’s size record, but the published speed claims should not be treated as a head-to-head comparison: the sources do not establish that both builds were tested using the same method or conditions. Gizmodo’s 2016 report covers Rober’s build; Interesting Engineering’s account provides additional context.
