So the careful answer is: Netflix’s slate said 2026, while a later third-party report expected 2027. Treat 2027 as unconfirmed, not as a Netflix-announced release date.
Is Season 5 the last season?
Yes. Netflix announced Season 5 as the final season of the live-action series. The announcement said Seasons 4 and 5 would film back-to-back and adapt Andrzej Sapkowski’s remaining saga novels: Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow, and Lady of the Lake. Netflix has not provided a verified episode-by-episode map of those books, so the titles indicate the broad source material, not a guarantee that every book event will appear onscreen unchanged.

Netflix’s 2026 slate describes the closing story as a race to reunite Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri as dark forces gather across the Continent. The novels are one way to continue into Sapkowski’s version of the saga, but they should be approached as the source books rather than a scene-by-scene preview of the adaptation.
What happened in Season 4?
Season 4 premiered on October 30, 2025. Netflix confirmed all eight episodes were streaming by December 10, 2025. The season continues the story of the separated leads in a war-ravaged Continent, setting up the final seasons’ attempt to bring the family back together.

| Title | Format and story | Where it fits |
|---|---|---|
| The Rats: A Witcher Tale | Live-action special following the group’s formation and a heist that goes wrong. | Netflix Tudum places it just before the group meets Ciri at the end of Season 3. |
| The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep | Animated film adapting Sapkowski’s short story “A Little Sacrifice.” Doug Cockle voices Geralt, with Joey Batey as Jaskier and Anya Chalotra as Yennefer. | Released February 11, 2025; Netflix places it between Season 1 episodes 5 and 6. |
Netflix Tudum’s film guide gives the placement and adaptation details for Sirens of the Deep. These companion stories are not substitutes for the live-action continuation: one is an animated tale set during Season 1, while the other expands the Rats’ backstory.

The announced source novels for the final two seasons are Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow, and Lady of the Lake.
