What was the tour, and when was it announced?
Called The Song Is Over: The North American Farewell Tour, the run was announced in May 2025 as a final US and Canadian tour. The Who’s announcement is available on the band’s official site. The Associated Press reported on May 8 that the scheduled run spanned August 16 through September 28, 2025. Pete Townshend said, “For me, playing to American audiences and those in Canada has always been incredible.” AP also reported Roger Daltrey’s uncertainty about a UK farewell run: “I don’t want to say that there won’t be (a U.K. farewell tour), but equally I’m not confident in saying there will be.” Those comments were reported in 2025, not made as new statements in 2026. What changed in the later itinerary?
The Who’s July 2025 itinerary included Philadelphia and Atlantic City, stops that were absent from the May 19 guest-announcement itinerary. For the expanded schedule, consult the July itinerary. The relevant guest assignments remain as listed above. The Joe Perry Project separately announced a return to touring in May 2025, but that announcement does not establish its specific Who dates; those come from The Who’s own guest listing.
