Yes. Theo James said he filmed a more explicit, full-frontal version of the scene in The White Lotus season two premiere where Cameron changes in front of Harper. That version was not the one used in the show: James said it felt “too much, too aggressive,” so the scene became more opaque, leaving Cameron’s intentions uncertain.
What happens in the scene
In the season two premiere, Cameron, played by James, asks Harper to lend him swim trunks after his luggage fails to arrive. Harper expects him to change elsewhere, but he changes in front of her. The moment puts her in an uncomfortable position and leaves room to wonder whether Cameron is deliberately provoking her or behaving casually.

Out’s account of James’s interview with Entertainment Weekly says the original version was “kind of full-frontal.” James said the cast and filmmakers worked out the scene’s approach on the day. His explanation, quoted by Out, was: “We shot that and it felt too much, too aggressive. What we came to is a bit more opaque, and that’s exactly what Mike does so well. You’re never sure a hundred percent of the characters’ intentions.” Out and Uproxx both attribute the account to that interview.
Was the full-frontal version shown?
No. James’s account distinguishes the more explicit version they filmed from the more opaque version used in the series. The reports do not say that viewers saw the full-frontal take.

A separate report on James’s December 2, 2022 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon says he confirmed that the aired mirror scene used a prosthetic. That detail concerns the version in the episode; it does not mean the full-frontal derivation was broadcast. Just Jared reported the interview and quoted James describing the moment as a “power play in sex,” with the uncertainty hinging on whether Cameron acted deliberately or accidentally.

James’s explanation is about tone and characterization: the more explicit take felt too aggressive, while the version that made the episode preserved uncertainty about Cameron’s motives. He also called the scene “very White Lotus in a Mike [White] way.” The accounts do not establish that a network, standards body, or separate decision-maker ordered the change.
