Tesfaye and Hadid were first linked in 2015. Vogue’s timeline says Tesfaye described meeting Hadid while seeking her for artwork for Beauty Behind the Madness; the publication cites an October 2015 Rolling Stone interview for the relationship’s April 2015 beginning. They were seen holding hands in New York that September and appeared together at the 2016 Grammy Awards. Vogue’s timeline recounts those milestones.

Hadid directly described the relationship in an August 2016 Glamour interview: “I’m dating Abel. I don’t see him as The Weeknd. I’m proud of The Weeknd and the music he makes, but I really love Abel.” The distinction she made was between Tesfaye as a person and his stage persona. Vogue reports that the pair split in November 2016.
In February 2017, Hadid spoke to Teen Vogue about the painful public breakup, saying, “I’ll always respect him, and I’ll always love him,” as reported by TIME.

After Tesfaye and Gomez separated in October 2017, he was seen at Hadid’s apartment the following month. Reports of a renewed relationship followed in 2018. Hadid denied one report that they had kissed at Coachella, while later sightings in Cannes, Paris and Tokyo fueled reconciliation coverage. Those sightings and reports are not all direct confirmation. Biography.com summarizes their relationship as on and off between 2015 and 2019, with a final split in August 2019.
Selena Gomez: 2017
Gomez and Tesfaye dated from January to October 2017, a period Biography.com describes as nine months. Their clearest public milestone came on May 1, when they made their red-carpet debut as a couple at the Met Gala and kissed for photographers. TIME covered the appearance; Biography.com records the relationship’s reported dates.

Simi Khadra: linked since 2022; status unconfirmed
Tesfaye and DJ and beauty entrepreneur Simi Khadra were linked beginning in 2022. Biography.com describes their relationship as relatively private. They were photographed together in early 2025 and again on March 30 at Khadra’s birthday outing, according to ELLE. Those public appearances establish that they were seen together then, but do not settle their relationship status in October 2026.
A June 1, 2026 report by IBTimes UK covered breakup and engagement speculation. It reported that neither person had publicly addressed the rumors and that no confirmation established either an engagement or a breakup. The most accurate answer to “Who is The Weeknd dating?” is therefore that his current relationship status is unconfirmed by the available reporting.

Was The Weeknd linked to Angelina Jolie?
Jolie and Tesfaye were seen leaving a Los Angeles dinner in summer 2021, prompting dating speculation, but a relationship was never fully confirmed. Cosmopolitan’s timeline says both described themselves as friends. The dinner sighting alone does not establish that they were a couple, so Jolie belongs in the rumor context rather than the confirmed-partner timeline.

Celebrity timelines rely on different kinds of evidence: a person’s own words, a public appearance as a couple, reported sightings, and anonymous-source claims do not carry equal weight. Hadid’s interview comments and Gomez and Tesfaye’s Met Gala appearance provide direct public milestones; some reported reconciliation dates and Khadra status claims are less certain. A private relationship history cannot be made exhaustive from public coverage, and speculation about the meaning of songs or lyrics is not proof of whom they concern.
