Spoilers for The Way Home Season 3, Episode 10, “If You Could Read My Mind.” The finale closes the loop on who pushed Alice into the pond and why Colton jumped: Alice is Colton’s time-traveling granddaughter, and he uses the pond to say goodbye to young Jacob. It also reveals that the baby left at the Landry farm was Elliot, while leaving the identity of his mother’s traveling companion unresolved.
Hallmark lists the episode’s original airdate as March 7, 2025. Its episode guide says all episodes are streaming on Hallmark+, though availability can change by region and over time.
How Alice and Colton’s story comes full circle
The finale reconnects the season’s opening pond mystery with the time-travel story that began in 1974. Alice is the same girl teenage Colton met then. When she encounters him again in 1999, he recognizes her and asks why she denied knowing him during their first meeting. Alice explains that her younger self had only just begun traveling and did not yet understand what he wanted to know.
The episode’s later revelation makes their bond explicit: Alice is Colton’s granddaughter. She reaches him in 2000 while he is searching for Jacob, and confirms who she is. Hallmark’s finale recap follows the conversation; executive producers Alexandra Clarke and Heather Conkie also discussed the finale’s return to the show’s beginnings in a TVLine interview.

Why Colton jumps into the pond
What he learns in 2000
On February 17, 2000, Colton receives money from Evelyn while looking for Jacob. At Lingermore, the portrait “My Katherine” helps him realize that the woman he knew as Rose in the 1800s was his daughter Kat—and that Jacob had been in the past. Colton rushes to the pond, where Alice confirms that she is his granddaughter.
Colton tells Alice that the pond stopped working for him after 1974. He had kept that from Del because he believed it did not work for his children. Alice assures him Jacob will come home, but her tears tell Colton that he will not be alive when it happens. He comforts her, describing the pond as both a curse and a gift: it let him make music with his granddaughter in two different eras.

His goodbye to Jacob
After Alice leaves, Colton asks, “Please take me to my boy,” and jumps into the pond. He arrives at the 1999 summer kickoff and finds young Jacob in the barn. Colton hugs him and tells him he loves him. This is a goodbye and a message of reassurance, not an intervention that prevents Jacob’s later disappearance.
Who pushed Alice into the pond?
Alice did. After returning to her own time, she sees her younger self through Elliot’s window and runs back to the pond. The earlier Alice finds Colton’s jacket and calls Kat to report it. As she is distracted by the call, the older Alice pushes her into the water. The finale reveals that the person who began the season’s pond incident was Alice herself, acting from a later point in her timeline.

Why Del and Kat travel to 1975
Del asks Kat and Alice to take her through the pond so she can see Colton. The trips do not put all three women in the same destination: Del and Kat arrive in 1975 for Del and Colton’s wedding, while Alice surfaces separately in 2000. Del watches her younger self walk down the aisle, now carrying knowledge about Colton and the family that she lacked at the time. The scene gives her a chance to revisit the meaning of his choices without undoing their marriage or taking away the grief that followed.
In 1975, Kat also speaks with Fern, who calls her “Kitty” and hints that they will meet again. The episode uses Del’s visit to deepen her perspective on the past, while Alice’s separate destination brings the 2000 Jacob search and her reunion with Colton to a head.

Who was the baby left at the Landry farm?
The baby is Elliot. Near the end of the episode, Kat and Elliot connect a message from his mother with wording on an old clock. They infer that his mother may have traveled through the pond, which would mean a Landry was involved. A flashback shows a woman and a man jumping into the pond, leaving a baby behind; Colton and Del later find the child at the Landry doorstep.
The finale does not identify the other traveler or spell out the complete route by which the baby arrived at the farm. Clarke told TVLine that the image of a couple jumping and leaving a baby behind was a deliberate mystery: “We all fell in love with the idea of that image, of a couple jumping and leaving a baby behind.” The line is Clarke’s explanation as an executive producer, not dialogue from the episode.

What the finale leaves unresolved
Jacob, Lingermore and the threatening letters
Casey tells Jacob that Susanna’s will left Lingermore to the Landrys, evidence relevant to the family’s dispute with Louis Goodwin. Casey rejects Alice’s guess that Casey’s parents are Alice and Max, but will not explain future rules. Meanwhile, Del has received threatening letters. Jacob leaves, believing that his disappearance may stop the threats. The episode does not settle what will happen to him next.
Sam’s connection to the pond
Sam reassures Del beside the pond. The scene suggests that he may know more or have a connection to its mysteries, but the finale does not explain his knowledge.
Kat, Elliot and Alice’s next steps
Kat and Elliot reconcile and tell each other they love one another. Elliot says he will wait for the right moment to propose; Kat recognizes that the ring he has is Susanna’s. Alice decides to return to music and receives a message from Noah, leaving their romantic future open.
