Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult follows dancers connected to 7M Films and Shekinah Church, with the family estrangement of sisters Miranda Derrick and Melanie Wilking at its center. Former members and relatives describe alleged coercive and harmful conduct; Robert Shinn and associated parties have denied allegations. The series presents competing accounts, not a court’s findings about disputed claims.

What the Netflix series covers

Released on Netflix on May 29, 2024, Dancing for the Devil: The 7M TikTok Cult is a three-part documentary directed by Derek Doneen. Netflix’s episode descriptions follow dancers connected to a church-associated management company, relatives concerned about their separation from loved ones, and former members recounting their experiences.

The episodes are titled “Part I: Die to Yourself,” “Part II: The Escape,” and “Part III: Reap What You Sow.” Together, they trace the public concerns raised by the Wilking family and the accounts of people who left the community. The documentary’s central threads include two sets of sisters: Miranda and Melanie Wilking, and Melanie and Priscylla Lee.

Who is who: 7M Films, Shekinah Church and Robert Shinn

  • 7M Films is the talent-management company at the center of the series and former members’ allegations.
  • Shekinah Church is the church associated with 7M in Netflix’s description and the background reporting.
  • Robert Shinn is identified in coverage as Shekinah’s pastor and a 7M figure. Allegations about his conduct are disputed.

These are related parts of the documentary’s story, but they are not interchangeable: 7M is a management company, Shekinah is a church, and Shinn is an individual. The series examines their connections through the accounts of dancers, relatives and former members.

The Wilking sisters and the family split

Miranda Wilking, now known as Miranda Derrick, and her sister Melanie Wilking are a central part of the documentary. Netflix’s background account says the Wilking family publicly raised concerns about Miranda and 7M in 2022. The series frames that family estrangement as one of the story’s main emotional stakes.

Family members’ concerns are their account of the situation; they do not, by themselves, establish why the relationship changed or prove allegations about an organization. Miranda’s story is also distinct from the Lee sisters’ experiences, which supply another former-member perspective in the series.

What former members allege—and what has been denied

Former members and family members describe conduct they characterize as harmful or coercive involving people and organizations linked to 7M and Shekinah. Netflix Tudum’s background coverage and The Guardian’s 2024 reporting present these as attributed allegations and participant accounts. Shinn and associated parties have denied allegations.

That distinction matters: a documentary can record testimony, and reporting can document that a claim was made and answered, without proving the disputed claim. The series is best understood as a record of people’s accounts and responses, not as a legal determination of whether every allegation is true.

What happened after the documentary: the 2025 investigation update

In an update published July 29, 2025, Netflix Tudum reported that federal agents had raided a home linked to Shinn in connection with an active investigation involving several alleged offenses. The report quoted U.S. Postal Inspector Patricia Mendoza as saying the Postal Inspection Service was working with local, state and federal law-enforcement partners, and that the case remained active while investigators gathered and reviewed information.

This is a report of a raid and an investigation as described in 2025. It does not establish that charges were filed, that anyone was guilty, or what the investigation’s disposition is in 2026. A raid is not a finding of guilt.

What is known about the lawsuit?

Coverage and the documentary discuss litigation related to the dispute, but the available cited reporting does not establish a final outcome or the case’s status as of October 8, 2026. It would be inaccurate to say here that a trial occurred, that a party prevailed, or that the case remains active. The allegations and denials described in the series should therefore not be presented as court findings.
