The Thursday Murder Club filmed at Englefield House in Berkshire, which stands in for the fictional Coopers Chase, as well as at studios and locations across southern England. The production used sites in Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Kent, including the Historic Dockyard Chatham. Filming took place in 2024; Netflix released the film on August 28, 2025. Filming use does not necessarily mean a site is open to visitors.
Englefield House: the real Coopers Chase
Netflix identifies Englefield House in Berkshire as the Elizabethan manor used for Coopers Chase, the retirement community at the heart of the story. The estate’s buildings and grounds helped the filmmakers create a setting that could suggest a stately home shaped by different generations. Director Chris Columbus also said the nearby church and cemetery suited the story. Netflix Tudum’s location guide and an interview with production designer James Merifield in Country Life describe the location and its design.
The Jigsaw Room was built for the film
The novel does not specify the room’s architecture. The film’s production team chose an orangery and built it onto the side of Englefield House; it is not an existing historic interior. Merifield explained the decision to Country Life: “But we thought, why don’t we put it in an orangery? So what you see in the film we built onto the side of Englefield.”
Other filming locations in England
The production combined Englefield with studio work and locations across several counties. The following sites are identified in the production liaison report from Filming in England and in the Kent Film Office’s location report.

What was filmed at the Historic Dockyard Chatham?
The Kent Film Office confirms that the Historic Dockyard Chatham was used for a vehicle stunt scene. The office describes the maritime museum, on the site of the former Royal Navy dockyard, as covering more than 80 acres and containing over 100 historic buildings. Those figures describe the dockyard, not the area used for filming.
Can you visit the filming locations?
The location reports confirm that filming took place at these sites, but they do not establish current admission arrangements or permission to visit each filming spot. A film location may be a private estate, working venue, church, village street or studio rather than a visitor attraction. Check directly with the relevant venue before travelling, and do not assume that an on-screen location can be entered or viewed from the grounds.
