The Terminal List: Dark Wolf is a seven-episode prequel centered on Ben Edwards, played by Taylor Kitsch. Set seven years before The Terminal List, it follows Edwards from his Navy SEAL career into CIA Special Operations. Its first season finished releasing in September 2025 and streams exclusively on Prime Video.
What is The Terminal List: Dark Wolf about?
Amazon describes the series as an origin story for Ben Edwards, tracking his military career as a Navy SEAL and later as a member of CIA Special Operations. The story takes place seven years before the events of the 2022 series The Terminal List, in which James Reece investigates a conspiracy tied to the ambush of his platoon. Amazon’s series page

The Associated Press reports that Edwards is deployed to Iraq to train local soldiers and begins questioning decisions made by his superiors. AP frames the prequel as showing how Edwards became a villain in the original series; that is the outlet’s characterization, rather than Amazon’s official synopsis. Associated Press

Amazon and AP describe The Terminal List franchise as based on Carr’s novels, and Amazon identifies the original series as based on his novel The Terminal List. That book is a starting point for the franchise, but the available sources do not establish that Dark Wolf adapts a separate Carr novel or has a tie-in book. Amazon · Associated Press
How successful was the original series?
Amazon Ads reported in 2025 that Nielsen measured The Terminal List at 1.1 billion minutes watched during its first three streaming days. This is a historical audience figure for the original series, not Dark Wolf; Amazon Ads relays the Nielsen figure and links onward to Variety rather than presenting a direct Nielsen publication.
