The Survivors is Netflix’s six-episode 2025 Australian limited series about Kieran Elliott’s return to his Tasmanian hometown, where a new death reopens an old tragedy. Charlie Vickers plays Kieran, Yerin Ha plays his partner Mia Chang, and the ensemble includes family members, old friends and detectives drawn into the mystery. This guide covers the cast and basic connections without revealing later episode twists.
What is The Survivors about?
Fifteen years after two young people drowned and a girl went missing, Kieran Elliott returns to Evelyn Bay with his young family. When a young woman’s body is found on the beach, the investigation stirs up the town’s past and the secrets surrounding the missing girl. Netflix describes the six-episode series as a mystery drama; its episode summaries reveal later developments, so this guide sticks to the premise.
The series adapts Jane Harper’s novel of the same name. Showrunner Tony Ayres described it as “a family melodrama disguised as a murder mystery,” a concise description of its blend of crime and family drama. (Netflix Tudum; Netflix)

Yes. The series is based on Jane Harper’s novel The Survivors, which Netflix describes as a bestselling novel.
