Their comments show that “best” depended on what each juror valued—not on a shared scorecard.
What the interview covers—and when it appeared
Dalton Ross’s Entertainment Weekly interview, republished by AOL on December 16, 2025, features jurors Nate Moore, Michelle “MC” Chukwujekwu, Alex Moore, Jawan Pitts, Sophie Segreti and Steven Ramm. Ross described them as the jury members who would decide the winner at Final Tribal Council, with two more jurors still to join them at the time of publication. The article said the finale and aftershow were scheduled for December 17 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS; that was the announced schedule, not a claim about when every viewer ultimately watched.
The interview was edited for length and clarity, so it is not a complete transcript. It also predates the finale and does not give a final vote tally. Its value is as a record of what these six jurors recalled and thought before casting their eventual votes.
What the jurors remembered about Ponderosa
The jurors’ answers present Ponderosa less as an extension of the competition than as a chance to recover and spend time together. Nate said, “I forged some connections there that were stronger than the ones I had in the game.” MC recalled having food, a pool and time away from phones and work. Alex emphasized spending time with Nate and MC; Jawan named his first meal after the game; and Sophie and Steven remembered karaoke.

Asked which pre-jury castaway they wished had been there, and which fellow juror they would choose as a permanent Ponderosa housemate, the interview solicited personal, lighthearted answers rather than assessments of game strength. Those recollections help explain the jury’s social setting, but they do not establish how any juror would vote.
Who did they think played the best game?
There was no consensus. Each answer reflects an individual juror’s perspective, and several respondents praised more than one player.

| Juror | Choice or emphasis | What the answer signals |
|---|---|---|
| Nate Moore | He saw MC as well positioned under different merge circumstances. | His answer points to opportunity and vote structure as part of how he judged a player’s prospects. |
| Michelle “MC” Chukwujekwu | She chose Nate. | Her answer is her own assessment; the interview does not present it as a shared jury view. |
| Alex Moore | “I think MC played the best game.” | Alex also discussed the split Tribal Council as consequential context for MC’s position. |
| Jawan Pitts | He favored Steven and also credited Sophie. | His answer recognizes more than one kind of strong play. |
| Sophie Segreti | She named herself. | It is a self-assessment, not an independent finding about who played best. |
| Steven Ramm | He selected Sophie and described a move he said did not appear in the edit. | The account is Steven’s recollection; the interview does not independently verify the move or establish why it was omitted. |
These are judgments, not objective rankings. The interview does not supply a common standard or enough evidence to settle which player played “best.”
Why “best game” means different things to different jurors
Related Parade cast interviews offer a useful comparison: jurors and players described different criteria for evaluating a finalist. They are preferences, not a formula that predicts a winner.
Rank #3
- Boxed Game
Strategic agency
Rizo emphasized strategic pull, while Jawan valued leaving a personal mark on the game. These standards favor players seen as shaping decisions or taking meaningful risks, rather than simply surviving each vote.
Social relationships
Nate said in his Parade interview, “I think I would vote for who had the best relationships.” Steven also ranked social skill highly. Relationship-building can matter both as a way to advance and as a quality jurors value in its own right.

Physical performance and survival
MC pointed to idols, challenge performance and escaping votes as signs of strong play. That view gives weight to visible accomplishments and the ability to stay in the game when under pressure.
Ownership and authenticity
Sage said honesty and owning a betrayal matter to her. Under that standard, a finalist’s explanation of difficult choices—and willingness to take responsibility for them—can shape how the game is judged.

Circumstance and opportunity
Nate and Alex discussed how merge conditions and the split Tribal Council affected MC’s position. Their comments underline that jurors may judge not only what a player did, but also the opportunities and constraints surrounding those choices.

The interview describes the prize at stake as $1 million for Survivor 49, as reported by Entertainment Weekly in 2025. It does not establish who ultimately received that money. Nor does it give the final ballot count or show that any one criterion carried the day.
For viewers, the clearest takeaway is the range of standards represented on this jury: strategic influence, relationships, challenge performance, resilience, and taking ownership of decisions. The jurors’ Ponderosa stories offer a glimpse of their time together away from the game, while their differing answers about strong play show why a Final Tribal Council can turn on how each person interprets a contestant’s choices.
