There was no official Pokémon ranking of the ten strongest Pokémon in 2025. Pokémon Support says strength depends on training and on the game or challenge, while the 2025 World Championships reported results across four different competitions—not a single cross-game leaderboard. The clearest competitive evidence is therefore format-specific: in Masters VGC, the finalists built successful teams around Koraidon with different partners.
Why there is no official top ten
Pokémon Support’s answer to “What is the strongest Pokémon?” is contextual: “In the video game, it depends a lot on how you train your Pokémon.” The support article does not name a universally strongest Pokémon or publish a ranked list. Read Pokémon Support’s answer.
“Strongest” could mean success in a particular video-game ruleset, a Pokémon’s contribution to a tournament team, performance in the Pokémon Trading Card Game, results in Pokémon GO or UNITE, or power within the story. These are different questions. In particular, a TCG deck result does not rank video-game Pokémon, and lore does not establish tournament performance.
What the 2025 World Championships can tell us
The Pokémon World Championships took place in Anaheim, California, from August 15–17, 2025. Its four competitions—Video Game Championships (VGC), Trading Card Game (TCG), Pokémon GO and Pokémon UNITE—had separate rules and results. They cannot be combined into one defensible ranking of Pokémon. The official event site describes the championships.
#1 Best Overall
- 50+ Pokemon Cards
- 5 Holos Guaranteed minimium per order
- 1 GX, EX, V, VMax, Full Art, Tag Team, or Secret Rare
For a video-game comparison, the Masters VGC final offers a narrow, concrete snapshot. Champion Giovanni Cischke’s team paired Koraidon with Lunala; runner-up James Evans’ team paired Koraidon with Shadow Rider Calyrex. Both pairings reached the final, but those placements establish team success in that event—not that Koraidon, Lunala or Calyrex is individually among the ten strongest Pokémon in every game or format.
Official coverage also reported that Zamazenta and Shadow Rider Calyrex were the most-played duo going into Day 2. That describes usage in that tournament at that point; it is not a universal power ranking. The contrast between that widely played pairing and the finalists’ different Koraidon combinations shows why usage, team composition and final placement are related but distinct kinds of evidence. What the results say by competition
| Competition | 2025 Masters result established here | What it does—and does not—show |
|---|---|---|
| VGC | Giovanni Cischke won; James Evans was runner-up. Their teams paired Koraidon with Lunala and Shadow Rider Calyrex, respectively. | Evidence of successful team combinations at this event, not an individual or all-format top ten. |
| TCG | Riley McKay was the Masters champion. | A TCG championship result concerns decks and cards in the card game, not a ranking of video-game Pokémon. |
| Pokémon GO | A distinct competition was held; no specific Masters champion or Pokémon ranking is established by the cited facts here. | Its results should be assessed within Pokémon GO rules, not merged with VGC or TCG. |
| Pokémon UNITE | A distinct competition was held; no specific Masters champion or Pokémon ranking is established by the cited facts here. | Its results should be assessed within UNITE, not merged with other competitions. |
The official 2025 event-results page lists separate VGC and TCG Masters champions and links TCG deck lists. That separation matters: the TCG winner identifies a successful player and deck in a card-game event, not the strongest Pokémon in the video games.

A useful ranking needs to name its scope before ordering entries. For competitive video games, compare Pokémon under the same ruleset and time window, and state whether the evidence is tournament finishes, usage, team representation or another measure. A player’s placing alone cannot isolate one Pokémon’s contribution: battles are played with teams, and the finalists’ different Koraidon partners illustrate that context.

- 50 assorted Pokemon cards
- Bundle with an LCC deck box that holds upto 100 Pokemon cards
- 1 Double rare legendary Pokemon card
A lore-based list needs different criteria and should be labeled as interpretation rather than an official competitive ranking. A TCG list should rank cards or decks within a named card format. Without those boundaries, a numbered top ten would suggest a level of comparability that the 2025 official results do not provide.
