Rather than present light-novel feats or fan tiers as manga fact, this guide explains how to judge the leading candidates and what a defensible manga-only ranking needs to establish.
Why a manga-only ranking needs a cutoff
The manga adapts Fuse’s work, with Taiki Kawakami credited for the manga and the original author supervising the adaptation, according to Kodansha USA’s series page. A ranking based on this adaptation should not import abilities, evolutions, or outcomes that appear only in the light novels or other versions of the story.
The series is ongoing, so any list is provisional: later chapters can add feats, reveal conditions, or change what a character can do. Kodansha’s K MANGA page for chapter 141 is dated April 23, 2026, and says new chapters are updated around the 25th of each month. That does not establish the latest chapter available in every territory on October 8, 2026. A published ranking should name the latest chapter available to its intended readership, rather than claim a universal cutoff.
Volume counts also vary by edition and territory. As of October 8, 2026, Kodansha Japan lists volume 33 for release that day, while Kodansha USA lists 29 English volumes available and the series as ongoing. Those catalog figures are not interchangeable.

How to compare the strongest characters
The order below cannot responsibly be reduced to titles, reputation, popularity, or one raw energy figure. A useful manga-only assessment weighs four kinds of evidence:
- Demonstrated feats: What the character actually accomplishes in a manga fight, and against whom, under what circumstances.
- Abilities and counters: The range and versatility of powers shown, their conditions, and any demonstrated way to resist, interrupt, or evade them.
- Durability and recovery: Whether the character can withstand or recover from damage relevant to the matchup.
- State at the cutoff: Count transformations, equipment, support, or temporary boosts only if they have appeared by the stated chapter cutoff. Separate solo capability from team assistance.
These comparisons are matchup-sensitive. A character with a strong answer to one opponent’s ability may not be the strongest overall, and close placements should be treated as a cluster when the manga does not establish a clear winner.

Top candidates—and what the manga must show
The official TenSura character portal lists several plausible candidates, including Rimuru, Veldora, Milim, Chloe, Diablo, Guy, Velzard, and Luminus. It verifies character names and membership in the cast; it is not a combat ranking. The presence of a name on that roster does not establish a position in a strongest-characters list.
To rank any of these characters accurately, the writer must connect each placement to manga-visible evidence: a specific fight or feat, the opponent’s demonstrated level, relevant limitations or counters, and the character’s condition at the cutoff. The available source material does not verify those individual fight details, so assigning places—even as a “top ten”—would risk presenting unsupported claims as fact. No publisher-issued character ranking or named combat statistic has been established here.

What to look for in a credible ranked list
- It states a manga chapter cutoff and identifies the readership or edition the cutoff applies to.
- It keeps light-novel-only developments out of the ranking, or clearly labels them as outside the manga scope.
- It supports individual placements with identifiable manga chapters or volumes rather than relying on reputation or character titles.
- It distinguishes a character’s solo showing from victories that depend on allies, special conditions, or temporary boosts.
- It acknowledges uncertain matchups and avoids implying that every adjacent rank is settled by the story.
Where to check the series and characters
For English print and digital editions, the Kodansha USA series page identifies the ongoing manga and its formats. For Japanese publication information, see Kodansha Japan’s title catalog. The official character portal is useful for checking names, while K MANGA’s chapter 141 page provides the dated chapter reference and monthly-update note; neither source supplies a power tier list.
