What this hot list measures—and what it doesn’t
JustWatch’s chart activity draws on actions such as clicking a streaming offer, adding a title to a watchlist and marking a title as seen. The company says it can calculate activity over the last 24 hours, seven days or 30 days. JustWatch also says it collects data from more than 50 million movie and TV fans per month, across 140 countries and 4,500 streaming services. Those are company-reported figures, not independently audited audience totals.
#1 Best Overall
That makes the chart a discovery signal: it reflects activity among JustWatch users, rather than a count of everyone who watched an episode. A high position and a long run in the top ten are also different signals. For instance, East of Eden topped this snapshot despite a shorter time in the top three than Lanterns.
Why other “most-watched” lists may look different
Nielsen publishes a separate U.S. streaming Top 10 based on its Streaming Content Ratings and Nielsen National TV Panel, measuring viewing through television. Nielsen explains that the providers featured in its charts are those with program-level data in specific reporting systems, while its viewing data include streaming to platforms beyond the named providers. Its methodology and measurement scope differ from JustWatch’s user-activity chart, so their rank positions should not be compared as if they measured the same thing.
Rank #2
For the separate measurement details, see Nielsen’s official Top 10 page. The October 8 JustWatch snapshot is specifically a U.S. chart; neither it nor Nielsen’s list should be read as a universal ranking of all streaming audiences.

Netflix U.S.’s Top 10 list, as reported by Tom’s Guide on October 6, 2026, also had East of Eden at No. 1 that day. The series is a seven-part period drama based on John Steinbeck’s 1952 novel. That is a separate Netflix-specific snapshot, not the source of the JustWatch ranking above. Tom’s Guide’s October 6 report provides that context.
