Karissa and Kristina Shannon say they left Los Angeles in their mid-20s, spent time in Las Vegas, and eventually rebuilt a quieter life in Ann Arbor, Michigan. In a PEOPLE interview published April 27, 2025—their first interview in six years, according to the magazine—they reflect on early fame, personal struggles, faith and the possibility of returning to entertainment. Their account is their own; the interview does not independently verify their private experiences or future plans.
From modeling to reality television
The twins describe beginning modeling work as teenagers and later becoming known through Playboy and E!’s reality series The Girls Next Door. They say the experience behind the scenes differed markedly from what viewers saw on television. The April 2025 PEOPLE conversation, by Angela Andaloro, revisits that period through their perspective rather than offering an independently reported account of the private lives depicted.

Why they left Los Angeles
Karissa and Kristina say they left Los Angeles in their mid-20s. They lived in Las Vegas before eventually making a home in Ann Arbor, Michigan, as they sought distance from the entertainment industry and a chance to rebuild their lives.
They connect that period to several difficult experiences, including their grandmother’s death in 2014 and Kristina’s 2014 DUI. They also discuss struggles with alcohol and pills and mental-health diagnoses they say they received. These are personal details reported by the twins in the interview, not independently established medical or legal findings in the article.

Faith, routines and a more private life
The sisters describe renewed Christian faith as part of their lives after Los Angeles. They also talk about spending time in nature, meditation, meal preparation, self-care and setting boundaries. These are practices they say have mattered to them; their account is not clinical evidence or a prescription for other people.
Their description of moving between privacy and public recognition is not entirely simple. Kristina says, “We cannot be unfamous,” while discussing dating and being recognized. The line captures the tension they describe between wanting a quieter life and carrying a public profile.

What the twins say they may do next
Karissa and Kristina say they are ready to reconnect with audiences, have been reaching out to former friends, and are open to dating and new career opportunities. They mention a podcast or talk show, organic homewares, a book and reality television as ideas they have discussed. The interview does not announce any of these as confirmed projects or released products.
They also discuss cosmetic changes, including reducing their breast implants. Those comments are part of their account of changing their appearance; the interview does not establish broader medical guidance or motives beyond what they said.

Where to read the interview
PEOPLE published the exclusive conversation on April 27, 2025, with Angela Andaloro as the byline. AOL republishes the full text. The interview is a first-person update on how the twins describe life after their Playboy-era public profile, not a verification of every personal detail or a confirmation of what they will pursue next.
