Yes. The real-world building used for Lumon’s headquarters in Severance is Bell Works, formerly the Bell Labs Holmdel Complex, at 101 Crawfords Corner Road in Holmdel, New Jersey. The show filmed exterior and public-space footage there, but many scenes inside the severed floor were filmed on a soundstage—not in Bell Works’ actual offices.
Where is the Lumon building?
Bell Works is in Holmdel, Monmouth County, New Jersey. Its published address is 101 Crawfords Corner Road, Holmdel, NJ 07733. The building was formerly known as the Bell Labs Holmdel Complex; Lumon is the fictional company’s name in the series, not the name of the real property. Bell Works’ visitor information lists the address.

Which parts of Severance were filmed at Bell Works?
The New Jersey Department of State’s Motion Picture and Television Commission reported on April 9, 2021, that portions of the series were filmed at Bell Works in late March. The state announcement confirms the location; Bell Works’ filming guide gives a more specific breakdown.
| What appears in the series | What the location information establishes |
|---|---|
| Building exterior | Bell Works identifies exterior footage as filmed at the property. |
| Atrium and lobby | Bell Works identifies these public spaces as on-location elements. |
| Many severed-floor interiors | Bell Works says many were filmed on a soundstage, rather than inside the real building. |
| Transition and establishing visuals | Bell Works says the property also served as a backdrop for these shots. |
That distinction matters: Bell Works is genuinely the real-world Lumon building and a filming location, but the show’s full maze-like office environment is not simply the building’s real interior.

Why does Bell Works look right for Lumon?
Architect Eero Saarinen designed the Bell Labs complex, which opened in 1962. National Geographic describes the Holmdel building as one of Saarinen’s late works and notes Bell Labs’ history in telephone and radio communications. Its mirrored glass façade, long horizontal shape and central atrium give the site a strikingly controlled, monumental look on screen. National Geographic’s account provides the architectural and historical context.
What is Bell Works used for now?
Bell Works is not a disused set. The property describes itself as a mixed-use destination with workspaces, dining, shopping, services, events and recreation. Its present-day activity is a sharp contrast with the series’ fictional portrayal of Lumon as an isolated, tightly controlled workplace. Bell Works’ site outlines the property and its current offerings.

Can you visit the Severance building?
Bell Works says the property is open to the public daily from 6:00 a.m. to midnight. That is the published general access information, not a promise that tenants’ offices, filming areas or every space shown on screen are open to visitors. Check the current visitor information before making the trip, and follow any access limits posted at the property.
