At the 97th Academy Awards on March 2, 2025, Halle Berry introduced a James Bond tribute featuring a dance by Margaret Qualley followed by performances from LISA, Doja Cat and RAYE. The medley moved through three songs associated with Bond films: “Live and Let Die,” “Diamonds Are Forever” and “Skyfall.” CBS reported that the tribute honored longtime Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, who had received Honorary Oscars at the Governors Awards.
Who performed in the 2025 Oscars James Bond tribute?
Halle Berry introduced the segment. The performance itself began with Margaret Qualley and dancers, then continued with LISA, Doja Cat and RAYE. AP described it as a four-part tribute, counting Qualley’s dance opening and the three singers’ appearances.
What songs were in the Oscars Bond tribute?
| Place in the segment | Performer | Song | Bond film and year |
|---|---|---|---|
| Opening | Margaret Qualley and dancers | James Bond theme | Bond franchise theme |
| Next | LISA | “Live and Let Die” | Live and Let Die (1973) |
| Next | Doja Cat | “Diamonds Are Forever” | Diamonds Are Forever (1971) |
| Closing | RAYE | “Skyfall” | Skyfall (2012) |
“Live and Let Die” was originally written by Paul McCartney and Wings; Shirley Bassey recorded “Diamonds Are Forever” for the 1971 film, while Adele originally recorded “Skyfall.” The segment was a tribute medley, not necessarily a set of uninterrupted, full-length songs. The song and film associations are reported by ABC Audio.
Why was there a James Bond tribute at the Oscars?
The clearest documented reason is the honor to the franchise’s longtime producers. CBS said the segment honored Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson after they received Honorary Oscars at the Governors Awards. The Academy had framed the ceremony’s performances broadly as celebrations of the filmmaking community and its legends; its advance performer announcement named LISA, Doja Cat and RAYE but did not identify the Bond segment or its songs.

Halle Berry, who played Jinx in Die Another Day (2002), introduced the tribute. The Guardian quoted her describing Broccoli and Wilson: “They don’t just produce Bond movies. They were the heart and soul of this franchise for decades.” That connects Berry’s introduction to the producers’ legacy, but the available reporting does not establish a single exclusive programming rationale beyond the stated honor.
The Guardian also reported the tribute came shortly after Amazon’s reported deal involving creative control of the franchise. That is relevant contemporary context, not an Academy-stated reason for the segment; it should not be treated as proof that the deal prompted the tribute.

How did the staging evoke a Bond film?
Choreographer Mandy Moore told the Associated Press she rewatched every Bond film while developing shapes, visuals and transitions for the opening. She said the production used the camera “in a way that’s really fun and in line with, I think, something that would be in a great Bond film.” In other comments reported by Pitchfork, Moore described looking for visual forms and transitions that would feel like Bond. The idea was to borrow the franchise’s cinematic language for a live awards-show performance, not simply present a sequence of songs.
For the choreography and camera details, see the AP interview with Moore and Pitchfork’s performance report. CBS’s account of the sequence and honor context is at CBS News; the Academy’s advance announcement is at the Academy Press Office.
