Which Omega watch does Tom Hardy wear in Dunkirk?
Farrier, Hardy’s RAF pilot in Christopher Nolan’s film, wears the Omega “RAF” CK2129. Time & Tide identified the watch in its 2017 watch-spotting feature, and an Omega release reproduced by WatchMediaOnline also names the CK2129. In the film, the watch serves as a practical instrument: Farrier uses it to help estimate how much fuel remains after his aircraft’s gauge is damaged.
Why was the CK2129 made for RAF crews?
Time & Tide reports that an Omega London sales subsidiary placed an urgent order on 5 January 1940 for 2,000 rotating-bezel watches for RAF crews. Its account, drawing on Omega’s book A Journey Through Time, says deliveries to Goldsmiths and Silversmiths began on 10 March 1940. What the historical model description records
The same Omega-book description, as quoted by Time & Tide, specifies a steel case with lyre-shaped lugs, a grooved rotating bezel, and a screwed crown at 4 o’clock. It describes a silvered dial with a minute track, Arabic numerals and blued-steel hands, powered by calibre 23.4 SC with central seconds. It also reports that the watches were adjusted in four positions to within 10 seconds per day. That figure is a period specification in the historical description, not a current service or accuracy guarantee.

What does the rotating bezel do?
The bezel lets a pilot track elapsed time: rotate its marker to align with the minute hand, then read the minutes passed against the scale. A second crown locks the bezel to help prevent accidental movement. That makes the CK2129 a time-only watch with a timing bezel—not a modern chronograph with a stopwatch mechanism. Can you buy the watch seen in the film?
No. The Omega release reproduced by WatchMediaOnline says the example associated with Dunkirk belongs to the Omega Museum and is not for sale. That statement concerns the screen-associated watch; it does not establish whether another original CK2129 is currently available from a dealer or at auction. The release also explicitly identifies Hardy’s character as wearing model CK2129. Read the reproduced Omega release.

About the watch-spotting video
Time & Tide’s feature, “WATCHSPOTTING: The story behind the Omega watch that plays a pivotal role in Dunkirk on the wrist of Tom Hardy,” was published on 26 July 2017. It connects the film prop’s role to the CK2129’s RAF history and cites A Journey Through Time for the historical order and model details. The watch’s significance is not simply that it appears on screen: its timing bezel reflects the practical needs of a wartime pilot.
