How did the film perform, and why is it still discussed?
The financial figures available describe different measures and should not be treated as interchangeable. The Numbers lists domestic box office of $36,261,763; that figure is domestic, not worldwide. In its May 6, 2026 tenth-anniversary retrospective, the Associated Press reported an approximately $50 million production budget and about $71 million in worldwide gross. The worldwide figure is approximate and reflects the AP report, not an exact current total.
The AP retrospective also describes the film’s audience reputation as having grown over time. That is a retrospective observation, not a measured survey result. Black summed up his view of the film’s long-tail appeal by saying, “There’s something to being the king of the midnight movie,” as quoted by the AP.

Is The Nice Guys available to watch or own?
Movies Anywhere has a film entry, and Prime Video lists the movie, but catalog pages do not guarantee availability in every country or at the time you visit. Check the service’s listing for your region and confirm whether it offers streaming, rental, or purchase.
A Warner Home Video release is documented, but the available sources do not establish which physical formats are currently sold, whether a particular edition is in stock, or whether Amazon currently lists it. A search for “The Nice Guys Blu-ray” may help locate an edition, but check the format, region, seller, and current stock before ordering.

Is there a sequel?
In the AP’s 2026 retrospective, Black called a sequel “a tough sell” because the first film did not deliver the box office the studio wanted. The same report quotes him saying that the answer to sequel questions is “nebulous.” His comments leave the prospect uncertain; they do not establish that a sequel is in development.
