Why do published rankings disagree?
Tatler Asia’s season-three-era list puts Mimi Morris first, at a reported US$800 million, and Anna Shay second, at US$600 million. Its list also reports Christine and Gabriel Chiu at US$80 million jointly, Jaime Xie at US$50 million, Kane Lim at US$20 million, Dorothy Wang at US$10 million, Devon Diep at US$1.1 million, and Kim Lee at US$500,000. These are also media estimates, not verified personal balance sheets.

The difference is especially striking for Morris: Legit.ng’s 2024 list estimates her wealth at $100 million, while Tatler Asia’s season-three-era list reports US$800 million. The rankings do not provide a shared, transparent calculation method that would explain the gap. Tatler Asia’s ranking and Bustle’s article, updated February 20, 2024, are useful examples of coverage that repeats estimates; Bustle likewise gives Shay an estimated $600 million and links that figure to reporting about the sale of Pacific Architects and Engineers. That explanation does not establish Shay’s current net worth or account for all her assets and liabilities.
Are the Bling Empire cast really rich?
The show presents affluent Asian and Asian American residents of Los Angeles, and biographies describe several cast members’ connections to business, inheritance, or wealth. Netflix identifies the program as a 2021 TV-MA series. Its cast guide describes Anna Shay as the daughter of Pacific Architects and Engineers founder Edward Shay; Cherie Chan as an heiress to a denim business; Christine Chiu as co-founder/co-owner of Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery with her husband Gabriel; and Kane Lim as an investor and real estate developer from a family associated with oil, shipping, and real estate. It describes Kevin Kreider as a model and former bodybuilder and personal trainer.
