A report on its first week said season one drew 2.2 million worldwide views and ranked No. 9 among global series—but the show was not available in every Netflix country, and it was no longer in Netflix’s global Top 10 for the week of September 28–October 4.
Why is The Mentalist popular on Netflix again?
The clearest explanation is timing: Netflix added the series in selected markets, and its first season soon appeared in the platform’s reported viewing rankings. That chronology makes the new availability a plausible factor in the comeback, but the published figures do not establish that licensing alone caused the surge or explain why individual viewers chose to watch.

On March 12, 2026, Netflix Nederland – Films en Series on demand reported that season one received 2.2 million views worldwide in its first Netflix week, placing it No. 9 among global series and in the Top 10 in 56 countries. This is a secondary report, not a direct Netflix announcement. It also said second-week figures were not yet available.
Was The Mentalist on Netflix worldwide?
No. “Worldwide” in the reported viewing figure and country chart count describes the reach of those measurements; it does not mean the series was licensed in every Netflix territory. A February 2026 availability report said all seven seasons were due to arrive on March 1 in the UK, Canada, Australia, and Latin America, and reported no US Netflix return at that time (What’s on Netflix).

A later snapshot found all seven seasons in 13 of 14 territories checked on September 27, 2026, with the United States the exception (availability report). That is a sample, not a complete count of Netflix catalogs around the world. Availability can differ by country and change over time.
What happened to its chart position?
The first-week result is a historical launch-period snapshot, not evidence of a year-long global chart run. Netflix Tudum’s official global Top 10 for September 28–October 4, 2026, did not include The Mentalist (Netflix Tudum’s weekly chart). A third-party tracker still recorded placements in some national charts in early October (country chart tracker).

These rankings measure different things. Netflix’s weekly global list shows the titles leading its worldwide chart for a particular week; a country chart reflects a separate local market and time period. Missing the global Top 10 in one week does not show that nobody watched the series or that it had disappeared from every national chart.

The Mentalist ran from September 23, 2008, to February 18, 2015, across seven seasons and 151 episodes. Its Netflix return began March 1, 2026, in selected markets—about 11 years after the finale. The interval describes the time since the original series ended, not a continuous Netflix absence in every country.
