But the guide is not a simple sort of the percentages printed beside each film: Carrie appears second at 94%, above The Long Walk’s listed 88%. The page also calls itself a guide to 68 movies while numbering entries through 69, and its introduction cites a conflicting 95% score for The Long Walk.
Rotten Tomatoes’ listed ranking puts The Long Walk first
The list is Rotten Tomatoes’ editorial Tomatometer ranking, not a fresh descending sort by the scores displayed alongside the films. Its first five entries are:

Those positions and scores are the values shown in Rotten Tomatoes’ guide, updated December 15, 2025; the ordering is not explained as a percentage sort. Treat it as the site’s listed order rather than assuming that each entry outranks every film beneath it by current Tomatometer score. Rotten Tomatoes’ Stephen King movie guide
Why the guide’s counts and The Long Walk score need context
The heading says 68, but the list reaches 69
The guide headline says “68 Stephen King Movies,” while its numbered entries run through No. 69. The page does not explain the mismatch, so “68” should not be taken as a confirmed count of the entries currently displayed.
#1 Best Overall
- A group of teenage boys compete in an annual contest known as "The Long Walk," where they must maintain a certain walking speed or get shot.
The page shows both 88% and 95%
The guide’s introduction says The Long Walk “currently holds a Certified Fresh score of 95%,” but its No. 1 entry shows 88%, as does the film’s individual Rotten Tomatoes page. The film page reports that 88% from 297 critic reviews. These are conflicting figures on Rotten Tomatoes pages; the listed entry and individual film page support reporting 88% as the displayed Tomatometer score, while the introductory 95% remains an unresolved discrepancy. Tomatometer and Popcornmeter are different measures
Rotten Tomatoes’ film page shows The Long Walk at 88% on the Tomatometer from 297 critic reviews and 85% on the Popcornmeter from more than 2,500 verified audience ratings. The first is the critics-side score; the second reflects audience ratings. Their percentages should not be treated as competing measurements from the same group or review base.
