The Last Woodsmen follows veteran logger Jared Douglas and his crew as they harvest valuable trees in remote Pacific Northwest terrain and move the timber toward market. Warner Bros. Discovery’s trailer announcement describes a floating barge hundreds of miles from civilization and says a mistake can cost tens of thousands of dollars—or a life. Those are the series’ promotional stakes, not independently verified cost or occupational-risk figures.
What is The Last Woodsmen about?
The Discovery Channel reality series centers on Douglas and his crew working in difficult-to-reach logging country. The official premise focuses not only on felling large trees but also on getting the timber out of remote terrain and to market. The October 17, 2024 announcement says the crew uses axes and hand-held power saws; it does not identify equipment brands or models. Warner Bros. Discovery’s announcement presents the work as a high-stakes mix of physical labor, machinery, and logistics.
The series’ cast listing on Disney+ also names Ross Davis, Dave Lornie, Jim Gardener, Rob Winger, and Adrian Bailey. Episode descriptions point to the practical challenges around the logging itself: a remote camp, machinery repairs, moving timber down rivers, and pressure from fire season.
Are the trees really worth $70,000 each?
Warner Bros. Discovery’s 2024 announcement says especially valuable trees can be worth “up to $70K each.” It does not explain how that value is calculated. In particular, it does not say whether the figure refers to stumpage, the value of finished products, sale proceeds, or profit. It should not be read as the crew’s take-home earnings.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The distinction matters: a tree’s stated value is not the same as the amount received after harvesting and transport, nor does it establish what remains after costs or any applicable royalties. The announcement supplies no accounting breakdown or realized sale price, so the $70,000 figure is best understood as the program’s promotional maximum, not a verified profit estimate.
What does the trailer say about the danger?
The announcement frames the operation as hazardous, describing a remote barge hundreds of miles from civilization and warning that mistakes can cost tens of thousands of dollars or a life. Discovery Networks president Howard Lee said, “The amount of danger involved in harvesting wood – something we see in our everyday lives – is incredibly compelling,” in the same announcement.

These statements describe how the series is being promoted; they are not an independently audited injury rate or a quantified assessment of the crew’s risk. The show’s official descriptions do, however, make clear that isolation, equipment problems, river transport, deadlines, and storms are part of the situations viewers will see. Discovery’s series page lists third-season episodes involving a risky claim, bridge construction, machinery failure, barge deadlines, and storms.
