The Pearl Jam song Ellie briefly sings in The Last of Us Season 2, Episode 5, “Feel Her Love,” is “Future Days.” She sings only a line while exploring the theater—a short moment that echoes the song’s history with Joel and Ellie in The Last of Us Part II.
What song does Ellie sing in Episode 5?
It is “Future Days,” originally recorded by Pearl Jam. In the theater scene, Ellie finds a guitar and sings a brief line of the song; she does not perform the full track. TheWrap’s May 11, 2025 recap describes the moment as recalling an event from Ellie’s past that the series had not yet shown at that point. Sky’s episode guide also identifies the song.
Why “Future Days” matters to Joel and Ellie
The song carries a connection to The Last of Us Part II, where it is associated with Joel showing it to Ellie. That game context gives the brief theater snippet extra resonance for viewers familiar with their story.
The Episode 5 tease is separate from the later television scene in which Joel performs the song during a flashback. In an interview with TheWrap, music supervisors discussed the series’ musical choices and how they connect with the game. Scott Hanau, who worked on both the game and series and served as score supervisor, said: “When the show and the game communicate through the dialogue and cinematography, it’s very minimalistic but very potent at the same time. And we try to match that note for note with a score.” Ian Broucek added: “Craig and Neil really love to capture the authenticity of the moment, and we like to capture the vocals live on set so it really comes across in the performance.” Read the TheWrap interview with the music supervisors.
