PlayStation has an official Ellie Cosplay Guide for The Last of Us Part II. Use it as your visual reference before choosing clothes, makeup, and props: it gives you a source for the character’s look, while your own fit, comfort, and weather-proofing make the costume workable for Halloween.
Start with PlayStation’s official Ellie guide
The PlayStation guide page presents a downloadable Ellie cosplay guide. Naughty Dog also confirmed in 2020 that it had released an official Ellie guide the previous year, before announcing a separate guide for Abby. That makes the PlayStation download the clearest starting point for building an Ellie costume.
Open the PDF and use it to check the details you want to reproduce rather than relying on memory, fan images, or merchandise photos. The guide is the appropriate reference for exact clothing, tattoo, hair, and prop details. Those specifics should be confirmed against the PDF itself; the landing page alone does not establish them.
Turn the character reference into a Halloween plan
Choose the version and details you can build
Look through the guide and decide which visible elements matter most to you. You do not need to replicate every detail: prioritize the pieces that make the version of Ellie you want recognizable, then adapt the rest to your budget, available materials, and the conditions where you will wear it.

Plan clothing, props, and makeup separately
Break the build into three practical categories: clothing, props, and makeup. Naughty Dog describes its cosplay community as making all three, and treating them as separate tasks makes it easier to set a budget and finish on time. For each item, record the reference detail from the PDF, what you already own, and what you still need to make or find.
If you want a worn-in look, compare the clothing you plan to alter with the guide first. Test distressing on a hidden area or spare fabric before cutting or abrading a finished garment. For makeup, use the reference to guide the result and do a trial run before Halloween; check product instructions and avoid applying products to irritated skin.

Keep props wearable and safe
Use the guide to identify the prop details you want to echo, then make practical choices for your event. A lightweight, blunt, clearly costume-only prop is easier to carry than a realistic or sharp one. Check venue rules and local restrictions before bringing any prop, and leave it at home if it could be mistaken for a real weapon.

PlayStation announced Part II merchandise on June 18, 2020, including an Ellie-associated work jacket, apparel, and a two-in-one backpack. In 2023, it announced an Ellie backpack replica, monster plush keychain, and pilot wing pin.
