1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsDan Goman, CEO of Ateliere Creative Technologies, argues that traditional cable is no longer viable as a standalone business. He does not predict its disappearance. He expects its bundle model to be rebuilt on streaming, with familiar cable economics returning in digital form. His case appears in a TechTimes interview by Carl Williams, published April 11, 2024, and it rests on his own account of audience figures and industry trends. The sections below set out his argument, the numbers he cites, and where the evidence stops.
What the argument rests on
Goman’s case rests on three pressures that are working on traditional cable at once:
- Audience and subscriber losses. Viewers are leaving traditional cable for digital streaming services, a shift the interview calls “cord-cutting.”
- Streaming competition. Streaming services compete directly for the same evening viewing that cable networks once held.
- A bundle and carriage-fee structure sized for a larger subscriber base. Cable distribution economics assume enough subscribers to pay for the channels bundled together. When that base shrinks, the economics strain.
Each pressure is reported as Goman’s assessment. The interview does not test them against independent market data.
The primetime audience numbers
The clearest figure in the interview is a count of cable networks that averaged more than one million primetime viewers. TechTimes attributes the counts to Nielsen data but does not link to the Nielsen publications themselves, so these figures have not been checked against the original reports.

| Year | Cable networks averaging more than 1 million primetime viewers | Attribution (as reported by TechTimes) |
|---|---|---|
| 2013 | 19 | Nielsen data, 2013 |
| 2022 | 5 | Nielsen data, 2022 |
| 2023 | 3 | Nielsen data, 2023 |
The measure is narrow. It counts only networks that clear a one-million-viewer average in primetime, so it shows how few cable networks still reach that scale rather than the total size of cable viewing. Read it as evidence of concentration and decline among the largest networks, not as a complete audience count.
Why the bundle is under strain
A traditional cable bundle groups popular channels with niche ones. Carriage rights and the fees attached to them are part of how that bundle is distributed and paid for. Goman says this structure frustrated consumers who wanted to choose individual channels, which gave them a reason to look for alternatives.

The subscriber problem follows from the economics. Goman describes falling cable subscriber numbers as making existing content-fee arrangements harder for operators to sustain. He also offers a specific estimate of future subscriber levels. That estimate is a forecast, and the interview gives no basis for treating it as an established result.
Where cable operators may go next
Goman says operators may look to two adjacent businesses.

Internet service provision
Operators that already run broadband networks can keep a customer relationship when video subscribers leave. The interview points to this direction without detailing how it would be priced or packaged.
Digital channel aggregation
Operators may also assemble streaming and digital channels into a single offer, which would move the bundle from a satellite or cable signal to an online service. The interview illustrates this with an example involving Spectrum. That example comes only from Goman’s account and was not verified in the article.
Rank #4

Streaming bundles as a rebuilt cable model
Goman’s most distinctive claim is that aggregated streaming bundles could reproduce much of what made cable attractive to operators. The main attraction he names is a more predictable revenue stream than individual streaming subscriptions typically provide. That is his analysis, not an outcome the interview demonstrates. Whether streaming bundles actually produce steadier revenue depends on pricing, retention and the terms the services sign, none of which the interview details.

The first is a rhetorical verdict: “The cable industry is a dead business,” said Dan Goman, CEO of Ateliere Creative Technologies. It is an opinion stated emphatically, not a neutral description of the market.
The second is more specific about direction: “The only thing that’s happening is a recreation of that original cable model now on streaming, digital streaming, because that’s what the industry knows, that’s what’s worked,” Goman said. This is the clearest statement of his thesis that the model is being rebuilt, not abandoned. It is still his prediction about where the industry is heading.
Comparing the two distribution models
The interview contrasts traditional cable bundles with streaming services and digitally aggregated channels. It does not compare named consumer plans, prices, or subscriber totals, so several cells below are marked as not stated.
| Comparison point | Traditional cable bundle | Streaming or digitally aggregated channels |
|---|---|---|
| Channel selection and bundling | Groups popular and niche channels together; Goman says this frustrated consumers who wanted to pick individual channels (TechTimes, April 11, 2024) | Goman says aggregated streaming bundles could recreate bundle dynamics; how channels are selected is not stated (TechTimes, April 11, 2024) |

| Dependence on subscriber scale | Goman says subscriber declines make existing content-fee arrangements harder to sustain (TechTimes, April 11, 2024) | Subscriber totals for streaming bundles are not stated (TechTimes, April 11, 2024) |
| Operator internet access | Operators may move toward internet service provision, with a Spectrum example given by Goman (TechTimes, April 11, 2024) | Whether the operator also provides internet access is not stated (TechTimes, April 11, 2024) |
What the interview can and cannot establish
- The figures are dated. The primetime counts run through 2023, and the interview is from April 2024. The article contains no newer ratings or subscriber data. Anyone reading this in late 2026 should check current Nielsen releases and operator subscriber reports before relying on the trend.
- The forecasts are untested. Goman’s subscriber estimate and his prediction about streaming bundles have not been checked against what happened afterward.
- The examples are reported, not verified. The Spectrum example and the operator scenarios come from Goman’s account.
- The interview does not describe commercial interests. It does not say what Goman’s company stands to gain from the outcome he describes, so his views should be read as an industry executive’s opinion.
- Negotiations and operator plans are not covered. The interview does not describe current carriage negotiations or specific operator strategies.
What the interview does establish is a clear thesis from an industry insider: cable’s bundle and fee model is strained by falling subscribers and streaming competition, and Goman expects its economics to be reproduced on streaming platforms.
