He is the subject of TV Insider’s exclusive sneak peek, published January 22, 2026, and he appears in Season 2, Episode 3 on Peacock. The preview frames him as a class-obsessed serial killer whose victims included wealthy New Yorkers, and it sets up the team’s effort to understand what separates his earlier killings from his recent ones.
Who is Zack Lang?
Zack Lang is one of the guest killers the team pursues in Season 2. According to TV Insider’s preview, he is obsessed with class and bludgeoned wealthy New Yorkers. That detail matters because it ties his crimes to a social target rather than a random pattern, and the preview positions him as a personal, specific threat to the team rather than a generic fugitive.
What the sneak peek shows
The preview’s central investigative hook is a change in victim pattern. Bex notices a distinction between Zack’s past victims and his present ones, and that observation pushes the team toward a closer look at his history. The preview states that the team investigates his unresolved trauma as part of its effort to stop him. The clip itself is built around that shift: a killer whose method is established, a team that wants to know why it changed, and a question about what the past still controls.
The preview does not reveal how the investigation resolves, and the episode itself is the only source for those details. The episode runs 42 minutes, according to Peacock’s listing.

What executive producer JJ Bailey said about Zack
TV Insider’s Zack Lang preview includes a line from executive producer JJ Bailey: “When he gets out, his thirst for violence can’t be quenched.” Bailey was talking about Zack’s therapy at the Pit, the secret prison at the center of the series, and about the character’s return to violence once he is out of it. The quote is about Zack specifically, so it should be read in that context rather than as a comment on the season as a whole.
Where Zack fits in Season 2
Zack’s episode sits inside a larger serialized story. The Pit remains the show’s central mystery. The escapees’ deaths were faked after an explosion at the secret government facility, and the team is tracking them down one by one while the broader cause of the breakout remains unresolved.
The series’ foundation is former FBI profiler Rebecca “Bex” Henderson, who returns to work after the explosion at the Pit frees killers whose deaths had been faked. She works with CIA agent Jacob Hassani and former prison guard Shane Florence. Season 2 also brings in Jennifer Morales and returning warden Oliver Odell, according to TV Insider’s season preview.
Season 2 premiere spoilers
Spoiler warning: The January premiere changes the team’s situation. Oliver dies, Bex forces the team’s reinstatement, and Lazarus takes command. TV Insider’s January 8, 2026 coverage of the premiere covers these developments in more detail.

Other guest killers in Season 2
Zack is not the only guest killer. Peacock’s season page lists episodes about Sidney Fairfax, Elliot Carr, Byron May, and Xander Wax. The preview also names the season’s announced guest cast:
- Eric McCormack as Ron Simms
- Kelsey Grammer as Noah Cyrus
- Jefferson White as Lou Kaplan
- Elizabeth Gillies as Amanda Weiss
- Niecy Nash-Betts as Detective Erica Burke
Executive producer Jake Coburn described the Ron Simms story in TV Insider’s season preview: “It’s a twisted, interesting look at romance and dating and how we can look past certain things and not others.” That line concerns Ron Simms, not Zack Lang.
